Why would they ban the press?

Their reaction to the film was most likely very unfavorable.

Yea, but like thats going to change anything. They're still going to give the movies a crap review, so why deny them the margarita andshrimp.

Many of the studio execs in the industry are not the nicest people you could meet. Even though it won't change anything it is a petty way to get back at them for the bad reviews everyone knows they are going to write.

There's also a peculiar insensitivity, I think, to those of us who lived through September 11.

In "Day After," downtown New York, in an aerial view, is flooded with water and then snow. The whole thing resembles the billowing smoke that poured between the canyons of buildings on that horrible day from real life. Later, survivors are seen waving from rooftops of buildings, a grisly reminder of the tragic souls who made that mistake at the World Trade Center hoping for safety.

New Yorkers do not need to see our city in this condition, whether or not it's fantasy. I'd rather fly on the wings of soaring birds with Harry Potter than relive those grim images as entertainment.
, then I just stopped. Making that 9/11 reference was totally unecessary and irrelevant.

yeap.

im still trying to figure out how snow and water reminds people of 9/11.

Quad was good in "Enemy Mine" and as Doc Holliday in that Wyatt Earp Movie (though not as good as Val Kilmer in "Tombstone") but I wouldn't have him as a lead for a 200 Mill socalled Blockbuster.

I think it was just an inappropriate low-brow stab at the makers of the movie, because the guy is still pissed he didn't get his shrimp, while at the same time trying to turn people to his cause by mentioning 9/11. It simply had no place in the article.

Damn, that's pretty creative actually :p

For some reason, the trailers of this movie always seem to remind my of Volcano (Tommy Lee Jones et al), and we all know how horribly sucky that movie was.

That's what I was thinking. "Strong script" and "developed characters"...put down the crack pipe.

Just throw in some tontons and call it EP3. Couldn't suck any worse than what Lucas is going to put out.

Maybe they can place Hayden's head in there somewhere. Maybe on a tidal wave? It would be more menacing that way.

i didn't realize we had so many prophets here. You guys should go work for a Hollywood studio, you obviously know what films are going to be great and which are going to suck well ahead of time.

the distaster films genre has been done to death. everything now is crap.

So has EVERY genre, yet they're still producing movies in Hollywood, i wonder why...

I wanted to see it, and still do. They already committed so much money to the movie, they should have spent a little more and gotten better actors.

Actors can only do so much with a lame script.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my dumb summer fun and plan to see this movie, but if the movie is 'bad' I doubt I'll blame it on Quaid/Jake.

I thought ID4 was pretty decent, if it was nothing more than a popcorn flick, but this dumbass is talking about the superb acting, great plotline, etc of ID4...wtf?

Will Smith was very powerful in that film! It definately pushed ID4 into my 'Top 10 Alien Invasion Movies' list.

i won't watch it

BTW, i could never figure out why "Independence Day" was a big hit. it was an ok movie, but not a blockbuster. it should have been a TV movie also
