I can't believe people still like AC/DC. Brian Johnson is and always has been crap. And the writing eventually went to hell too, it's entirely formulaic now. Find a catch phrase and have Brian Johnson scream it ad nauseum with his irritating voice. They should have hung it up after Bon Scott died.

i agree. i also cant believe radio stations still play ac/dc almost hourly... and ozzy too.. what the fuck? ozzy has newer stuff too, but all they play is stuff from 40 years ago. i get it, hes ironman. black sabbath paranoid, yes i heard it before. FOUR MILLION TIMES>

Maybe because modern music sucks so badly that we have to listen to classics for something to do?

Perhaps you'd like to hear Beyonce sing a million notes in 5 seconds? "I'M IN LOOOOOOoooooooOOOOoooooooOOOOOoOoOooooOOOOOOooooOOooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooovvvvvee!"

I saw them in concert in 1994 and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Dangerous concert though. Broken bones in the mosh pit.

Ditto. I saw them in 1993 or 1994 at Sandstone Ampitheatre in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Their set had the huge Lava Lamps on either side and was an amazing concert.

There is a special place in hell for people that call into the local radio station to request Metallica when they already play Metallica once an hour.

yep. i started hating metallica when the napster thing went down, but i was solidified in my hatred when i couldnt listen to an fm radio for more then 20min without them coming on.

really, metallica, ac/dc, black sabbath, and nickelback must make up about 99% of fm "rock" stations. i fucking hate it. yes, hate.

I caught STP at Rockfest in Kansas City a few years ago... it was fucking amazing. Scott Weiland is such a looney tune. Also, STP is more than just Weiland. The band are full of great musicians with great stuff...

While I agree that they are all great musicians, there's something about Scott's voice that is irreplaceable.

Any information on lawsuits/settlements over the name?

The only important thing in my car radio is the aux input for my phone, which plays pandora and has 16 gigs of space. Before the phone, it was an mp3 player for years.

Radio needs to die already and have its spectrum space given to wifi (assuming this is possible).

Radio just fucking sucks.

Yeah mine had the huge lava lamps too. Forgot about that. They also had to open up the dome since they hotboxed the whole thing. I was too stoned to get out of my seat at first and had to wait before going to the mosh pit. I think Bad Religion opened for them.

I haven't heard the new guy yet. The worst recent one was Sublime, new singer turned them into teeny bopper sounding music. I hated the song and only later realized they were calling themselves Sublime.

I had heard them as the Long Beach Dub Allstars like 15 years ago, and though not as good as Sublime it at least sounded authentic. Should've just stuck with that

One of the stupidest statements I've ever read on the internet.
There are very few guitarist, bassists or drummers that someone can listen to and know who they are, without hesitation.
There are hundreds of singers that can be identified by a single phrase.

Sorry, but to the general public the rest of the band doesn't matter.

Metallica is the exception to that rule. They should have kicked Hetfield out a decade ago.

count me as another who doesn't understand the AC/DC airplay. That guy's voice is like nails on a chalkboard. The music is alright in some songs but it's not like they're as good as a band like Rush who can make up for their lead singer's shortcomings.

The lulz continue

the split between the stone temple pilots and former frontman scott weiland has escalated into a legal feud. The associated press reports that the band filed a lawsuit accusing weiland of misusing the band's name in to advance his solo work and asked a judge to block him from using the band's name and their songs.

The lawsuit, which was filed on friday in los angeles, claims that weiland's chronic tardiness and struggles with addiction had hurt the band's earning potential when he was a member. It also claims that weiland, who was fired from the band in february, has attempted to interfere with airplay of the band's new single: According to the suit, weiland's lawyer had called the head of programming at la radio station kroq and told them that they would be infringing on weiland's rights if the station played the stp song "out of time."

chester bennington fronts stone temple pilots at kroq weenie roast

the band claims in the suit that they own the rights to the name stone temple pilots, as well as all the group's songs, copyrights and trademarks, citing agreements made in 1996 and 2010 that no former members can use the stone temple pilots name. Stp has asked the judge to stop weiland from performing stp songs in his solo career, or even calling himself a former member of the band.

At the kroq weenie roast last week, the band made their appearance with a new frontman, linkin park's chester bennington. In an open letter to fans posted friday on his website, weiland wrote about learning of the new configuration. "to tell you the truth, it took me by surprise. And it hurt," he wrote.

"but the band that played last weekend was not stone temple pilots and it was wrong of them to present themselves as that. First of all they don't have the legal right to call themselves stp because i'm still a member of the band. And more importantly, they don't have the ethical right to call themselves stone temple pilots because it's misleading and dishonest to the millions of fans that have followed us for so many years."
