Great potential here, such a good sounding band back then. Too bad Scott is such an ass, just like Axle i guess. At least i assume that's probably the reason.

What happened to going out on top?

Seriously musicians. Invest your earnings. Retire after your peak. Don't become a side-show.

Went to some chili cook off thing in DC about 3 years ago. STP was like 2 hours late due to Weiland being a drama queen or something or other. Ridiculous.

Didn't really matter. We left well before then as the venue was shit, beers were astronomically expensive, could only drink in 1 spot, was just boring, etc. We had more fun taking the Metro back getting off at random spots and drinking at random bars.

My wife and I would go see them, and their demographic is probably 30 to 70 somethings. Probably too small a demographic to even ever consider touring again :D

Actually us baby boomers still rule the land by far. Average age of America is almost 40.

STP could probably sell out!

People recognize the voice of the front man. Guitarists, drummers, bassists, etc are a dime a dozen.

lolno. They recognize melodies and songs first and foremost. The singer only wrote the lyrics and some vocal melodies in STP.

Any musician can play the melodies as you put it. Only one singer can make the sound of a band.

RHCP is shit without Frusciante and AC/DC did just fine.

Although I agree with you in the case of Sublime with Rome...

But not any musician can write the melodies. And let's face it, Weiland is a big part of what makes people dismiss STP as second-tier to Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains; he doesn't have a super distinctive voice at all.

Really? Did Axl Rose tell you that? AC/DC might disagree...

I can't believe people still like AC/DC. Brian Johnson is and always has been crap. And the writing eventually went to hell too, it's entirely formulaic now. Find a catch phrase and have Brian Johnson scream it ad nauseum with his irritating voice. They should have hung it up after Bon Scott died.
