WoW has been out for nearly 4 years and blizzard still fails at estimating server downtimes, dont expect Funcom to figure it out anytime soon

Yeah, seriously. EVE and SWG are the only two games that have every been consitantly up on time. Also, its early into launch meaning they might be hot fixing bugs they've been profiling for a while.

Yeah I understand that, but they shouldn't give specific timeframes for the server coming back up, then delay that by an hour, and then another hour, and then another 2 hours this latest time. Just say it'll be back as soon as possible instead of giving arbitrary times.

Plus, it wouldn't hurt if they could do this type of crap at 8est for the US servers. I don't care if they're European based or not.

Perhaps all the AoC threads should be merged together with a few polls on whether or not the game is worth buying.

True story and I lol'ed a little.

No, this is not a true story. RP-PVP have a lot of gankers who just don't say anything to you. Guild m8 in his late teens last night kept on getting spawn ganked trying to hit lvl 20.

Pepsei, this is a PVP game. If you can't get into PVP then you won't like Conan. Period. The content they make for PVE will be based on your ability to PVP to get to it. Some would say that the game doesn't start until 80. I think the game kinda starts at 40 when you get your mount but the real content, true enough, doesn't start until 80.

er.. it was a joke, i've never played RP before...

also, telling people that the "real" game doesn't start until level 40 is a horrible way to sell a game. are you trying to get people to leave?

as for the servers being down... i do expect that around the launch.... as with past servers... i didn't expect the trader (ie mail, bank and auction house) not to work.

If anyone has another one, could I get one as well? If I enjoy it, I'll give it a buy, but I don't like buying a MMO without trying it first.

Is this something you can elect like in wow PVE servers or do you just have to endure the backstab stuff? I don't miss wow but I do miss the MMO with my friends.

I think the PVE servers are like PVE WoW server rules, where you have to attack first then you're flagged.

Racial PVP is like PVP except you can only attack other races, and PVP is just FFA PVP I think.

No kill quests, no drop quests, and world pvp ganking. It's looking better and better.

Thats not exactly true. Some quests you do have to go kill things for item drops. For instance, latst night I was doing a quest that I needed 15 of a particular item and even with 6-10 other people in the same area looking for the same things I got 5 of them in like 30 minutes. So no nowhere nere as bad as say EQ.

game play wise, it's like enchanced graphic version of WoW with mortal kombat type of combat. with no crafting until level 40, and Bank, Auction Houser, and mailbox doesn't work at this time.

good thing about the game is that i'm actually starting to get immersed into the story (which i hope i don't have to be forced to go thru with each alt). oh and i ordered a new geforce 9 series card from newegg to run this game better.

What's the spellcasting like int his game? So far I've been playing a conqueror, but I kinda want to try playing a demonoligist. Did they work their combat system into the spellcasting at all or is it just hit the button and it casts the spell?

I know you were joking Pepsei but its just not true nor is the sarcasm really funny after hearing it 1000 times from people who role play just by buying a 'game' and creating an imaginary character to go kill 1s and 0s painted on the screen. Its pretty ironic.

Also, if you understood what a true PVP game is then you would actually appreciate the lvl 40+ being the beginning. The game levels you up fast anyways. You should be lvl 20 in 5 hours flat. Another half day of gaming around PVPers to get the other 20. Boohoo, lvl 40 blah blah blah.

Basically, that is how PVP games work. There is a time when you have to get serious with the game and find out if its for you. Its not lvl 10 or 20 in this game. It's not 25 or 35. It is not like WoW where it can take more time to get to 40. Its a matter of hours here of casual play.

Can you guys tell me if this game stores your characters? Do you have to keep playing in order to keep them active?

Like wow keeps your characters forever, but some MMORPG's delete them when you cancel.

I think anyone who reads these forums knows you're a big fan of the game. Nothing wrong with that. But I think you're taking a bit overboard as I'm not really sure how you're stating all this stuff as fact. Hopefully you're not going just by what the Devs have stated, because lord knows Devs never lie or backpedal. ;) It definitely can't be from actual game/beta experience, because there was NEVER an open PVP test of any magnitude with high level characters.

But honestly, you wouldn't have to look much further than half of the class-specific Feats, where at least 50% of them are PvE related. Like....+/- enmity Feats. That's the #1 sign that this game isn't quite as PvP centric as you'd like to think it is, or if it is as you say it is, why is this game forcing me to spend half of my Feat points on PvE skills? Just something to think about. Wait and see imo, I don't think anyone (including the Devs) know how PvP is going to play out in this game.

Because of the setup of my house i have to play on a wireless connection. i fear it will kill pvp combat for me because it doesn't react as quickly as tf2 does...

yeah it is really ironic i left wow to escape killing 30 rats (boars whatever), and FedEx delivery quest just to encounter the same in AOC. granted that FedEX is not as bad since it is within the city. killing 30 crocs around 4 spots take an hour with 6 other people camping (i know what quests to skip next time).

not to mention an annoying bug with the awakening II (the main quest for your character), where you go to a warehouse, watch a cut scene and then 3 mobs attack you. well, what happened to me is that the cut scene doesn't "finish", so i watched 3 mobs rush me and beat me to a pulp... what an annoying bug. (had to turn off 'cutscene' in the client to bypass)

it is NOT a matter of hours to get to 20 with casual play the first time thru for a new player.
you have to know where to go and what to do after a couple of play thru.

this is my first character, and it probably took me 10 hours of playing time to get to 20, server is down now for patching... hopefully the fun factor goes up soon.

oh and pvp game works great at low level on this game... experienced it first hand watching ranger ganking "newbies" left and right. (funny and fun at the same time if you're the ranger) <- not sarcasm.

I am sorry for you. I got the same bug in the Warhouse after I died because I forgot to buy potions. It only happened once. I've got less than 5 hours invested in the game on one character, You hit level 10 in like an hour of playing the game. All you have to do is follow the arrows on the map. If you suck or wish to immerse yourself in the atmosphere and smell the roses sure, you can draw out the 20 levels. It might even take you that long if its your first MMO but if you played wow then shame on you for leveling slow.

i guess i suck then, ha ha... i don't feel immersed in the game despite the amazing graphic and voice acting. it's currently playing like a no-monthly-fee game like guildwars at this point.

i want this game to succeed, so hopefully, they'll fix all (bank,AH, mail) issues soon and stick to a set patching day.

That isn't a problem on pvp servers :)

Invite the people who are stealing your mobs, as a group you will all get credit and finish faster. If they refuse to join, you can kill them and you get all the spawns to yourself.

That was my biggest complaint from wow- no way to punish players who steal my kills unless they were opposite faction. In AoC where you can attack anyone, I find players are less likely to do things to piss you off unless they are just looking for pvp.
