Yup rain is the most annoying thing about it. They should have definitely toned it down since climbing is so important to the game.

Yeah I put so many orbs into stamina so I can play the game vertically instead of horizontally and it's completely negated any time it rains. I might as well just not play the game when it's raining since most of the shrines require some sort of climbing and of course all the towers do. Even with that fault the game is feeling like a pretty strong 8.5/10 to me. I still think it needs more dungeons to be a 9.5/10 for me though.

The rain is annoying in this game (not counting the Zora section before taking over the divine beast, it makes sense there). Since I'm constantly climbing and rain ruins that any time it starts raining I just put my controller down for 5-10 minutes and just leave the game running by itself whenever the rain starts.
Build a fire under a tree to pass the time enough to when it's not raining. Problem solved.

You can still climb most everything when it's raining (except mile high cliffs). No matter how hard it's raining, Link will not slip until after at least 4 "rungs" are climbed, sometimes 5 or 6. Count them out, left, right, left, right, then jump. Link will slip after the jump, but you will still make more progress up than down (presuming you're wearing the climbing gear, which you should be wearing pretty much always while exploring anyway).

Is increasing number of hearts kind of a waste say beyond ten? I know you need 13 for something I don't want to spoil, but after doing it I traded a bunch of my hearts back for stamina. I can beat the major feats of strength shrines with ten hearts so is there much reason to increase them more? Or is it better to just dump everything in stamina?

Same. Maxed my stamina immediately after getting 13 hearts. Keep in mind, at the moment at least there are only enough Shrines to max one or the other. Also, if you max your hearts, then eat something that gives you extra hearts, you do not receive any bonus at all. So there are diminishing returns on the heart bonus. The closer you are to max, the less bonus you'll receive. Stamina on the other hand is different; You can go over the maximum with food.

I just finished the game with all the memories and all the shrines. I think I'd give it an 8/10, so it's definitely a great game. I loved the exploration, especially the climbing and route finding, and the divine beasts were a blast. I mostly found the shrines pretty boring though the good ones were truly outstanding. They should have cut them down to 1/3 of the number they had and just kept the great shrines. How many times did I have to fight that stupid guardian in the 120 shrines? I guess I sound a little critical of the game, but the open world exploration is easily the best in anything I have ever played. It even puts the GTA games to shame when it comes to exploration.

I agree about the "test of strength" shrines those got old really quickly. I also agree that the good ones were good ones.

I beat it the other day as well. I didn't realize I had to turn in the quest for the memories, even though I had them all, so I got the bad ending. As my previous posts indicate, I wasn't a huge fan of the Shrines as fun as some of them were, and the quests to find them all were great and I'm still missing a good dozen of the more hidden ones (no guide use at all). But, Shrines just felt like they were the training grounds for something that was coming, but never materialized. Everything else was terrific. Thought the bad ending was honestly pretty bad. My wife who has been watching me play it anxiously awaiting me to beat it, said "that's it? That's a horrible last line."

I still hold hope for the 2nd DLC to introduce something more to the game that makes use of the skill building aspect of the Shrines. Like maybe 3 or 4 actual dungeons that have to be unlocked. With the expansiveness of the world, they could have easily hidden something beneath it with hidden entrances, locked away until the DLC arrives.
