Wanderer and whoever else,

I'm an an area on level 4, there are 4 teleporters you have to complete areas in.

I actually got through three of them with one char, but the fourth puts me in 'the catacombs' which is filled with skeletons and skeleton archers.

My char is killed almost immediately, and I don't know that I'd kill them even with a full group. So, I'm stuck. Pretty frustrating not having a crystal.

On the two ways into the level, I heard the other one is even harder with the slimes; but the spores quickly wipe out 3 in my party, despite moving from their clouds.

Yes,
the Slimes are the hardest way, and I don't think that even opens up completely to the level (don't remember).

The other way you encounter the two Mushroom things with poison - pretty hard, but easier than the Slimes.

Right up the stairs from these guys is a Crystal (once you get the gate back open)

A tip for all levels really:
you can always go back yo the last level to use the crystal of life. In fact it is usually right by the exit.

Well, I'm not sure why I thought I couldn't get back to the last level, but I can, so party is back.

Now I'm wondering, since I played most of the level with one char, did I just lose the exp for other chars or did the one char get four times as much? It might be worth re-playing the level.

Also see a book in a room I can't get to...

You lost the experience for the other characters, but it doesn't matter that much in the long run. The monsters at that level don't give that much experience anyway. Still it couldn't hurt to run it again.

Ya, I replayed it. Got 2 or 3 level ups.

Been saving points on the warrior, put 8 in armor but not sure about the rest in swords.

Well, I got to level 5 - then went back to level 3 and found a secret I'd missed
for the +50 poison resist bracers
.

Not looking for help on it now, but I am stuck
on few level 4 secrets including the room with 16 trap doors open and a teleporter in the middle, how to turn that off
.

I tried
throwing stuff in the trap doors and shooting the button on the all you can't get to, didn't work.

Heres a simple hint for that one.
the solution to that puzzle is only available from the section with the teleporter puzzle. It is actually quite convoluted, so you may need to look up a hint for that one.

Thanks Martimus. I'm going to wait on a hint for now.

I'm considering my rogue's stats. He's frontline, two mages in back.

From what I hear, it's a problem that he'll get killed too easily later - even if his dodge gets points. And I'd been looking at either daggers or assassination for more points.

It's a good group for backstab - the mages can invis and freeze - except I'm not great at running around fast in combat, and I'm wondering if the time wasted running around the mob for a backstab instead of clicking more attacks will really add much if any damage.

So, dodge, or more dagger, or assassination points...

While I'm at it... a second dagger in his offhand doesn't add to his melee damage, does it? That's only for throwing? I've had two daggers the whole game...

And the higher the speed listed, the faster the weapon?

He found a dagger that appears to have some charges on it as well... hard to compare.

"So, dodge, or more dagger, or assassination points..."

in some cases a fast tactical retreat help's [run and close a door between them and you hehe]

I've got two Fighters in front with my Mage and Rogue in back.

There's one stat for Rogue that when it gets to a certain level you can use Melee weapons from the back row - big help.

Definitely load up on Rock, Axes, Stars, or whatever in your offhand - ranged attacks can definitely soften up your enemies before head on battle.

I agree... but read that in some harder battles they don't let you, so you have to not have a rogue in the front getting killed quickly.

The back row stat would be good for another party but mine has a front row rogue.

For range attacks I have the two mages.

It might be better with two Mages
With mine I found myself running out of Energy a lot - things ramp up pretty good in the next few levels if I remember correctly.

I don't have the co-ordination to handle all the spell keying and maneuvering to make it through with two Mages.
Heck, it was challenge for me with the party I had.

Everyone else seems to make it through okay though, so you'll probably be okay.

How is this game? Was thinking about picking it up?

Any advice on a starting party, i always like to have a rogue in group.

Thanks

Picked it up last night played for about 40 mins, fun i like it so far, went with a Mino Warr, Human Warr, Human Rogue, and Insect Mage. Mage is fire so far.

Can you heal in the game at all or do you have to wait for health to regen?

Thanks

Ashenor, you'll probably want the 'attack from rear row' skill for rogue in assassinate unless you are just doing range, though it doesn't sound like backstab would be that good.

The convention in rpg's is fire is high damage, low utility. Might want to stick mostly to one school until you get it useful.

For healing, your options are:

- when a char isn't hungry, you can hit 'r' to rest.
- health potions (IMO pretty few in number, save them)
- the glowing stones, one each level, which recharge in a few minutes

(Last level I had to run back to the stone many times - one hit, get poison, run to stone)

I used the rogue entirely for archery, which worked fine. There are plenty of arrows in the game. Also if you want to have her speciallize in throwing weapons there are plenty of those as well. You can pick up both after you kill the enemy you shot/threw them at.

Thanks guys on level 3 doing pretty good so far. Game is a lot of fun, i used to love the old Might and Magic games.

My Rogue has attack from the rear row skill, mage has 2 pts in spellcraft and the rest in fire so far.

I figured out the heal stones, did not know you can rest though. And negatives to resting?

Resting speeds up time, so beyond possibly getting attacked you also get hungry faster. I never had any issues with food, but you can start running out of it in the later levels if you rest too often.

Ah ok thanks, ya i normally just run back to the crystal now, have not used much food yet, no potions or rested yet and just got to lvl 3.

Resting is actually a good idea sometimes as far as advancing the story.

I'm getting to the point it's almost too hard on some battles, level 5...

Then again, I have no points in weapon skill for my warrior yet, and saved a bunch on the rogue while I try to pick daggers or assassinate.

The downside to resting is what he said above, takes time and you get hungry; you might save before resting in case of combat.

It seems especially useful in a level when you don't have access to the stone - I had to eat and rest where I'm at.

One game gripe, the scrolls for spells are too rare; I tried experimenting and still haven't found one my my spells (and don't want a spoiler).

Ya the posion spiders on lvl 3 are annoying, i hate wasting potions so every fight basically i trudge back to the stone a level up.

My DPS warrior is starting to do ok dmg now that he has 2 swords and about 13 points into swords. Do the skills you gain like slash and whatnot just have a random chance to go off?

My Mino War/tank is not bad, i started him on athletics, but switched to armor, he almost has heavy armor unlocked now.

Rogue i went Assassination, had a hard time choosing between it and daggers, still using daggers though with reach from the back row.

Mage has Fireball now, just a pain to click 3 things in a hurry to cast it.

I assume there is no vendor to sell crap to? I have been lugging around 10 spears and shields now for awhile can i just dump those?

Anyone go to save a game and load there last one?? Gah did that last night lost about 35 mins was mad lmao.

I wonder how that'll do comprared to daggers, if you don't backstab.

No vendor, I did the same thing, dump them (keep a couple things to drop for puzzles).
