Thats kinda what I was feeling with the demo, but then again, it is only just a demo, so its hard to make a judgement based on that. But ya, some things feel choppy and sloppy....

Yeah youre right about the environment too. I could not put my finger on it earlier but something was making me feel less into the game, and I think its the daytime enviornment. That is a very odd choice. Id only guess this is just some of the maps, im sure some will be nighttime?

I dont know, l4d1 seems better at this point than this one.... Maybe a little early to jump to that conclusion but...... I am definitely not going to pay $40-$50 for this game. Maybe they will have that $20 weekend deal again they had last time. :p

meh, I'd only pay $15 for this game. I haven't played the demo, but I feel gipped with l4d. It doesn't seem like too much has changed, like they argued.

So does anybody else think that maybe l4d2 will make l4d better by getting all of the kids to go play l4d2, thus making l4d more enjoyable?

Why would they go back to L4D? If Valve's statements are true then L4D2 should be superior in every way. Better AI Director, more weapon variety, more zombie variety, new maps and I'm sure the mod community will port over all the L4D maps too.

to be fair, i think i'm too zombied-out with these zombie games. even if L4D2 offered great new content worth the price, i don't think i would be interested anymore. according to my steam stats, i've played L4D1 over 280 hours. that combined with killing floor, the haunted have given me more than my fix of zombie games to last a long time. by the time 2nd DLC came out for L4D1, crash course, i had no interest and no motivation to even play it. i think if i didn't play the first L4D to death, i might be more interested in L4D2. and to think i was considering getting RE5. enough with these zombie games!!!

It just seems odd imo that a company would decide to release an entire new game so quickly after l4d1 was just put out. It hasnt really even had much time to be developed further. It was only like, a year ago. It just seems like they just went to l4d1 and copy/pasted the thing, added a few guns, few little tweaks here and there, and bam...$45! From a business standpoint, thats brilliant but...

I didn't like the atmosphere of the demo at all; between the daylight, music, and sound effects it lost a lot of the creepy atmosphere the original had. Maybe I've just gotten so used to the old characters, but the new ones seem kind of generic and don't have nearly as good dialog. The melee weapons were neat, but weren't too useful for me. Maybe they'll be more important in other maps? There seemed to be less of an emphasis on the special infected, their sounds really cut through the noise in the first one and it built up anticipation while you waited for them to appear. There's been a few times in the demo where I didn't even know they were there until someone else killed them. I didn't notice any changes with the AI Director or anything, but that sort of stuff might be hard to notice.

Really, it's just more of the same thing with a few minor changes that (in my opinion) don't enhance the game very much. Hopefully we'll see some more improvements when the game is released and we can see all the campaigns. But for now I'll be waiting for this to drop down to $20 before I even consider getting it.

L4D2 - released. Check - more of the same zombie killing with a few new goodies. Ok..so where the hell is HL2-EP3? Valve needs to get their priorities in order! :)

Tried the demo, seems kinda meh. I think I actually liked the first one better, it may be the atmosphere as someone else suggested, or simply that the game was more interesting when it was a still fresh the first time around.

Same here. And like Alex said, there isn't nearly enough emphasis on the special infected. There is nothing special about them lol...Tank seems a LOT weaker and sounds weaker too. There is not much to say about the spitter and the jockey. The charger seems like the only decent one. Also, the hunter doesn't have that creepiness that you felt in the first one. So far, its a big meh.

the charger scared the shit out of me at first. the hunters are sesame street characters compared to the old creepy ones.

I thought the original l4d was amazing, so the new one, by extension, should also be amazing, as long as they put enough effort into the maps.

I would have preferred it released as an add on to the original l4d though, even if they charge the same price, just to integrate all the content together.

Play the demo and you'll see what we're all saying.

Just finished trying the demo. Like it a lot better than the original mechanics-wise, but the maps feel a lot crappier. Feels unfocused and too out in the open. The gun variety and gore is much better though.

More guns and gore, I get that is a positive, but how does that validate a $40-$50 price tag? What, it was difficult to add more guns and gore to the first one? :p People keep talking about new content validating the price..what new content?

The guns feel laggy/sloppy to me. Also, I wish there was more knockback and better handling of the zombie bullet impacts. Maybe more like killing floor, with well defined head hitboxes where you can blow their heads off to basically instantly kill them. I just dont get why a shotgun blast to the center chest in group of many zombies would not force them backwards in some degree... Thats one thing that has annoyed me with l4d.

Don't believe everything you see in movies.

A completely original campaign that is longer than the first game's doesn't qualify as new content? New weapons? New characters? New guns? New items? New modes? Daytime battles in a game that was exclusively night before?

Movies? What does that have to do with movies. Have you ever fired a shotgun before? heh.

A completely original campaign? Its just new maps put together. This couldnt be added to the first one? New characters. Yes its so difficult to change the skins/models for the new cheesy characters. New guns & items, which I already noted was a positive. Those couldnt be an update patch? Daytime battles, that completely takes the feel away from the exclusively night game, ya thats much better.....

Im just saying.. :)

I do not get how this is anything more than an expansion pack. It feels like the exact same game. I'd probably buy it if it was a $20 expansion pack.

It is *much* less scary than L4D. Not that the original L4D was scary, but this just feels like an arcade game.

You guys are grasping at straws. Literally everything a sequel is to a prior game L4D2 is to L4D1. See my previous post:

The only thing L4D2 doesn't have is a brand new game engine. No matter what they do, you guys will say "it should have been patched in and of course it should have been free". Did you want L4D2 to be nothing like L4D1? It wouldn't be L4D if that was the case. This is L4D2, a sequel, more of the same with a new campaign. This is what sequels have been since forever. This is what it was supposed to be and nobody should be surprised.

Where were you guys when Halo 2 and 3 and CoD MW came out? Gears 2? What about Zelda and Mario games? Oh that's just a new campaign, since it is basically the same game they should have patched that right into the last game for free.

I really doubt there is any ground to stand on at all when it comes to saying L4D2 should have been a patch and isn't a new game. You guys are just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Umm no cus those games were INFINITELY larger, had better graphics, sounds, than their predecessor. Everything I've felt and read about this game is not.
