You can't walk 10 feet without bumping into a major asshole in either area.

That being said if I were you I'd park my ass somewhere in Topanga Canyon, between Malibu and SM, a place where I could enjoy myself and the incredible beauty of the mountains and ocean.

Buddha's Belly is a good affordable place to eat in SM on 3rd street and if you want to take your Wife/GF to a nice dinner sometime you can look into the Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga. Otherwise stick to n n out and Jersey Mikes and keep travel on the 405 and 101 to a bare minimum.

Also, hope you like the liberal mentality of being tolerant of anyone who doesn't disagree.

Vote for neither. Cost of living is ridiculous in that part of the country and the job market is terrible. Move to another state.

I hate to say this but I'd rather live up north. Not necessarily sf, but their suburbs. I feel the culture is more welcoming and less materialistic. I have a good friend that lives in walnut creek and I loved it. If I didn't have all my family down here I would move up there. Also I don't think ill find another employer that let's me have so much overtime...

but then again it could be "the grass is always greener" syndrome i'm feeling here. I guess there i would miss the beach, warmer weather, close snowboarding, nightlife...lol

--it's not so bad. All depends on how you live and how you spend (though it can change drastically in the Bay Area alone, depending on where you live)

--again, depends. Plenty of great jobs always available, if you're in the proper industry.

Is on welfare a good industry?

When I lived in the Bay Area, I used to go out to Walnut Creek a lot to take my dogs to Shell Ridge. They loved that place. But with traffic and the tunnel, it can be a nightmare to get into the city unless you take BART. And out there, you're pretty much in the desert.

Yeah, the cost of living is definitely high. Negotiating with the company on salary, I told them that the income tax and sales tax in CA are both 4% higher than in MA.

But the job market for at least me has been good as I've gotten multiple companies interested in me there.

Weak rant, the company flying me out there wouldn't select seating for me on my flights. At the time, there were window and aisle seats available. Just checked-in online and all that were available were middle seats. Crap!

I know first-world problems.

This has always been my feeling in the NorCal vs SoCal war. I've lived in both places, and I strongly prefer living in the SF Bay Area, and I live in the burbs.

Since I don't care about nightlife, the beach, or snowboarding, I'm good! :D I just hated that feeling that I felt like I was losing parts of myself to the nonstop Los Angeles "LOOKATME" mentality.

I lived in Norcal for 2 years but grew up in the LA area my whole life and to me there's no comparison. I haven't been back to Norcal in 9 years since I left.

Last I checked, I'm not on welfare. And my income puts me "well-below" the so-called "poverty" level for this area.

Sucks to hear.

I wasn't implying you are on welfare Zim (though it sounds like you need a kid for all the free-moneys!); I was just asking about how the welfare industry was vis a vis quality of life etc.

I've got a brother who's made it his job in life to never work, never learn, and always live off of a world that owes him something.

Actually Dominguez Hills is in Compton, and it's a very decent area that's not super expensive. Even if indirectly and unintentional, your obvious sarcastic suggestion was a pretty good one.

lol don't listen to this.

OP, as someone else has suggested, and especially since you are staying in CC, you MUST go to Father's Office and get their burger (comes one way you can't change it). Get it medium rare.

As for working in playa vista, the best places to live are playa itself, marina del rey (next town over), culver city, west LA (90025 or 90064 if you dare go past the 405), Venice, or Santa Monica. Brentwood is nice but that's where traffic begins to be a cluster fuck (last 2 miles of commute = 30 minutes type of cluster).

Anything East of the 405 is suicide unless you know LA and you are an uber aggressive driver. I would also avoid south of LAX. There's El Segundo and Manhattan Beach but it's really boring down there.

At the SM Pier, traffic and congestion is really bad here. Don't know if I could live around here.

That's a reality of life in a place where EVERYONE wants to live, or visit, get used to it.

If you want no congestion, I heard Wyoming has plenty of space.

these are little things you learn while here.

For LA, need to go to the beaches north of malibu/zuma, or south of el port/redondo/hermosa/manhattan.

Preferably, ventura or orange county beaches.

Both great cities. Sadly the rest of the country wont understand unless they live there. Im sure Ill get a ton of hillbillies out lynching for saying that but its true.

I lived life on another level when I was in Socal. Now shit is just weak..

1. Riding motorcycles year round just wins..
2. The other sex is just better looking. If your into men or wemon.
3. Rust
4. Roscoes chicken and waffles. Ya its that good
5. Closeness, Big bear, Vegas, ocean, mountains, In and out burger
6. Fewer religious nuts. Rather more of them but all different flavors.
7. Del taco
8.Wahoos fish tacos
9.Burrito King
10. Entertainment industry. Buying groceries at rock and roll ralphs at 5 AM and stepping on Fred Savage. ya that happened to me or rather him. I stepped on him accidentally when he was passed out.
11.Convertibles are practical. Ya screw you SOCAL

Ya Ive been drinking but its true.

what about all the illegals? where do they rank on this list?

Save yourself the hassle, and move to Seattle. Seems like a lot of Californians end up here anyway. But good luck either way.
