I love how people feign outrage at everything. He was mad at that black guy, but he obviously didn't "mean" what he said. He was just insulting the guy, and maybe implying that the black guy should be less of an asshole because of what his people went through.

I watched the Richards footage on youtube. It was disturbing. To me, he exceeded his comedic license and launched into a tirade that wasn't funny but embarrassing to watch. The audience wasn't laughing; in fact nearly everybody there was offended to some degree.

You'd be upset too if you were black. Sorry is just a convenient word that may or may not be genuine. I'm willing to bet that he apologized because he wanted to save his career, not because he gave a damn about the African-Americans. Instead of seeing it from your point of view. Try to see it from that of the victims.
There were no victoms in the incident. I'm sure the place he was talking at was a theatre that would not allow persons under the age of 18 in, he was just an idiot spouting idiot drivell.

Same here. I'm black, but it doesn't really get under my skin that much. It has NO BEARING WHATSOVER on my thoughts of his as a comedic actor in Seinfeld. I loved him in Seinfeld and will ALWAYS love him as Kramer. What he did recently has NO bearing on that.

You'd be upset if it was pointed at you personally. How else could you sue him for millions. :D

Wait. So you assume that his apology isn't genuine but at the same time you are sure that his racist tirade was? Maybe it had more to do with anger than racism. I watched his apology and he doesn't look like an example of good mental health.

I don't defend his stupid rant, but neither do I think he owes anyone anything other than an apology and a promise to get some counseling. The idea that he should give financial compensation to the victims of some verbal abuse is ridiculous. Worse things are said every day, and people go on with their lives.

Oh no don't bite the hand that feeds.

But he has now been accused of making anti-Jewish comments during a stand-up routine as well.

Richards allegedly lashed out at Jews during performance earlier this year, yelling at one audience member: "You're a f***ing Jew. Your people are the cause of Jesus dying."

I love how white comedians can't make comments about any race other than white while comedians of ANY OTHER RACE can make fun of everyone, including whites, and it's all right.

I love Michael Richards. He's my f'in honkey hero.

I dont see what the big deal is.

You see african americans call each other ****** all the time.
Yes it was out of line of Richards to say those things he did, but he obviously directed it at the hecklers and not the entire african american population.

I dont see how the hecklers and his actions are that much different. It's just being blown out of proportions because he's a celebrity.

People over react when it has anything to do with race.

Is that really a joke? And is that joke really appropriate?

What minority makes fun of whites like this? This guy went way above the limit. It probably comes from ignorance of some sort.

I see many people here on AT keep talking about a double standard; when you actually look at it, there is no double standard when looking at the big picture.

Mencia comes to mind. If he were white, I bet he'd probably be fired.

Ever see Chris Rock do standup?
Honkey, Cracker, White Devil, etc. etc.
He goes on and on.
And it's funny.

Stay amused. Would you be amused if that was your next of kin? Maybe?

EDIT: I doubt your love for a bigot (in real life) would've changed if this was a non-recorded incident. But it was recorded and we all saw it. At best he's a closeted bigot, at worst, he has serious racial problems. Either way the act he put on Letterman probably convinced you that he's a great actor and you bought it hook, line, and sinker just like you bought the Kosmo Kramer acts on Seinfeld.

What if he's just a really angry person who was confronted with two black hecklers and, for better or worse, he figured the easiest way to piss them off as much as they did him was to attack their race?

What if he's just a puppet for the real racist, Jerry Seinfeld?

I think all are equally plausible.

Well, if you want to take this into a bizarre scenerio then go ahead, but I won't follow your wild thoughts, as plausible as they might be. It's also plausible that you might be a raging pedophile who is defending Kramer out of respect for the anomalies of the world. But I won't go there either.

Are you a Scientologist? That line is straight out of their handbook for dealing with people who challenge them.

That being said, I think my first example is complete possible.
