The boxed copies require Origin, which is annoying, but now that I have it installed, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Pain in the ass to install it on all of my machines (which already had Steam), but not a horrible experience in the end. And the game has been great so far, so that's helping me overlook Origin for now.

Just took the boat over to Mel Sinshir (sp) at the 45 hour mark, think ive done every quest so far. the Siege looks like itll be fun.

Spent a bit of time yesterday running around finding lorestones. (hurray max detect hidden) they give passive bonuses when you find all of a certian kind, and there are like 20 diff kinds in groups. the bonuses add up nicely.

closing in on 2 million gold, i have like 4 houses now and my own mine

I just hope the environments are changing a bit...3 territories left in Dalentarth and everything is a forest...

Can't wait to see some desert, snowy mountains...anything other than freaking trees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will be pleased as you progress :D

Also, to be fair, Dalentarth has some slight differences!
Ettinmere is more lake/swamp than forest (I really liked that subzone), and Haxhi, with its canyons and bridges, is also a little different.

Thanks, I just finished Haxhi yesterday and now i'm entering Ettinmere. Can't wait to change region though.

Ehhhh, I've got some catching up to do...one rank from max detect and doing some speedruns to get the lorestones. Done pretty much all character-specific quests (not doing fighter or finesse guilds) and a boatload of side quests. I'm actually surprised how well a lot of the sidequests do in attaching you to the environment. I still feel the "why should I care?" aspect of KoA is its weakest point, but it's not nearly as bad as a lot of the MSM reviewers made it out to be.

the "why should i care" feeling IMO is no different then it was for me in Dragon age or Fable, or whatever action RPG game you want to toss out there

i respeced at teh fateweaver to get max detect because after 35 or so hours i figure out what i used and what i didnt care about. also the +skill books you find out there do a great job of getting your unused skills to a good lvl. so i redid the points.

Hmmm, good point, didn't think about the points I had gained from books...because I've been following a specific build (pure mage) and my skill choices (max detect, SC, BS) have worked out pretty well.

Definitely going to have at least one replay with max persuasion on a fighter/finesse hybrid though.

Yes, I feel it's similar to Fable (or rather any Diablo clone would perhaps be a better comparison), however I found the stories in DA (and even DA2) to be better in drawing one in. Personal preference I know, since quite a few feel DA2 was complete trash :)

The witcher and W2 were the only 2 that really drew me in, however the controlls in W2 sucked so much it really didnt matter how good the story was.

I did the siege of Mel Sinshir a day or so ago. Was pretty sweet, the boss and cinematic feel was nice. Just finished the Traveler quest line, got that fate card, I'm pretty OP at the moment as it is but will most likely go back to get all the lorestones as my detect hidden is almost maxed.

Oh, I'm completely OP at the moment provided I dont get stunlocked. I can spam every mage spell and my mana pool barely registers...kind of funny. And that's before greater mana regen potions :D

yea i havent tried out a pure build yet, im playing mage/war bout 55 points in each now and its still totally OP, i prob do less damage per hit but i never fing die, i have like 1500 armor and life and just smash things with a wep or spells, the zerker rage thing in the war tree is also amazing

My rogue is quite fine to play, crafted my own master armour and weapons since the looted and pre-order stuff was not holding up to damage/protection at higher levels(21 now).....Daggers/Faeblades are my main weapons choice due to pure fast speed,I do have a bit of range magic as well however ignored the Might tree altogether since don't really need it .

I think only done about 30% of the game so got a lot to do,anyway its one game where I'll be playing for many weeks, don't know if it will be finished by time ME3 comes out however.

Hahaha, just went through siege end boss in 5 hits--meteor isn't mana efficient, but with armor boosts, it's outputs crazy damage lol.

Does anyone know how the house of valor thing works with the boxed version for the pc ? I.e, do we need to download something special or register some alternative key? Also when i asked EA they coudln't tell me - but they did send me a promition code. However they didn't say what this promotion code does (it is for ea store) - any hints (common sense would suggest it is a discount but i couldn't seem to get it to change the price of what i put in my cart) ?

If its promotional extra DLC then you should of got a code that you enter(got mine via email) , enter it in the download content section of the game(click on redeem code button) ,thats what I did for my different promotional code,it will then be in the game automatically.

Btw my copy is retail version.

If that doesn't work, you might need to enter it into Origin. There is a place within Origin (I can't remember exactly where off the top of my head) where you can enter promotional codes. That is what I had to do with my Amazon code.

The PC version shipped with House of Valor built in. Just go to where it starts
(Arena in the desert, eastern end of the Alserund area in Detyre)
and you're good to go.

Mem - did your box version have a promotion code for house of valor quest ? The box version I have was not CE or pre-order so I don't see any promotion code just the game registration code (for origin). The pamplet states house of valor is included as a bonus item but does not provide an explicit code :(
-
I'm not worry about trinkets like special weapon or armor; but I would like the have the house of valor quest line as it is suppose to be decent.
-
The code that ea emailed me sounded like ti was a discount code for their store (they said to use it at store.ea.com but when i entered it there it didn't do much.

My copy is standard retail from play.com with pre-order bonus "The Destinies Choice Pack includes a unique Twist of Fate card, plus the Compass of Fate and 3 armour sets: Melee, Finesse and Sorcery" .

I still have a lot to do with the game quest wise, so far not done anything related to the house of valor.

House of Valor
What is the House of Valor?

The House of Valor is the sixth faction in Reckoning. With it, you will get an additional faction quest-line for Reckoning, including seven exclusive quests. The House of Valor takes you through battles in the Valor Arena where you’ll meet new companions and rivals along the way!
Do I need to be a certain level for the House of Valor content?

No, characters of any level and Destiny can enjoy the House of Valor content.
When will the House of Valor be available?

The House of Valor faction is available on February 7, 2012 with the North American release of Reckoning, and February 10, 2012 with the European release.
Does the House of Valor cost anything?

The House of Valor is additional content available for Reckoning. It is completely free to anyone who purchases Reckoning new, and is distributed via EA’s Online Pass.

An Online Pass redemption code comes included with every new Xbox 360 or PS3 copy of Reckoning. If you do not have an Online Pass code, you can purchase one in the XBL Marketplace (800 MSP) or in the PlayStation Network store ($9.99 USD). The House of Valor content unlocks automatically when you enter a Reckoning registration code on PC.
How do I get the House of Valor?

You can get the House of Valor by purchasing a new copy of Reckoning, or by purchasing an Online Pass code in the XBL Marketplace or in the PlayStation Network store.
Approximately how much content is the House of Valor?

The House of Valor includes an exclusive quest-line comprised of seven additional single player quests, the Valor Arena area, and new characters who will join you in your arena battles.

So looks like its automatic via PC registration.

I've beaten the main quest, about 30 hours into the game... Gotta say the difficulty for this game is a joke. The whole time I've been playing on hard (the highest difficulty), its a little difficult in the beginning, but once you get your blacksmithing up the game goes super easy mode. I literally have 100% physical resistance, extremely high elemental, kills everything in 2 to 3 hammer/great sword swings.. I'm yawning now. Glad I didn't purchase this game, the side quests also feels like a chore.

I seem to have an unhealthy obsession with smashing crates in this game. Probably a quarter of my gold has come strictly from that.
