At the very end of this video, the mother says the police called her six times, but she "didn't have any minutes left" - FOR THE POLICE.

If she wouldn't answer for the police, do you think she would answer when the school called?

I should have read your comment more closely...

I kept waiting and waiting to hear it, then, at the very end... I didn't have any minutes at the time.

FFS. Sounds to me like the police tried to handle this in a number of different ways. Teachers likely couldn't get physically involved due to reasons already suggested.

You don't want you kid arrested and in cuffs? Have a reliable means of contact between yourself and the school your child is associated with. If that's your phone, make sure you have minutes.

And the biggest reality is the lack of discipline. That's parenting there. Kids need to know that teachers are to be respected. Unless it involves unnecessary physical or emotional contact between a teacher and student, their role as a teacher is to be respected. If you end up in the principal's office, you had better know that you just screwed up big time, and to change your tune immediately.

Did anyone think to call the parents before calling the cops?

Who the hell calls the cops on a six year old?

MotionMan
People who keep getting sued because douchebag kids have douchebag parents who really should smack the kid and set him straight. These kids are spoiled little shits and I am glad he got cuffed. Should tape his ass to the chair like they did in NYC recently.

#1 - they should be able to handle a child's tantrum,if not they are in the wrong profession.

#2 - do they carry around child sized cuffs, standard cuffs would be too large or did they zip tie her ?

# 3 - there is no reason to handcuff a 6 yr.old child.

#4 - M0oG0oGaiPan....that was hilarious....:p

We had those in my school, they were called 'adults.'

Umm... no... the dynamics have changed in schools. They are much more fearful of legal repercussions than doing what is necessary (spanking the kid, etc). No adult in their rightful mind would ever do that to a child because all it takes is 2 seconds to have the child yell abuse (which kids that age are capable of and actually do) or have parents yell abuse and sue the school.

Bye bye job, and hello taxpayer dollars wasted on a lawsuit. People need to grow up.

I didn't read the whole thread, but just in case it hasn't been mentioned... I see a lot of "they should be able to handle a child's tantrum,if not they are in the wrong profession" type posts in this thread. My question is how exactly are you supposed to be able to handle it? If you have a kid who's gone crazy and is throwing shit and breaking stuff, what exactly do you do?

It seems to me that restraining her with handcuffs prevents her from being a danger to herself and to others (and to various objects), and it provides a certain amount of humiliation which will get her to hopefully stop and realize that she's making a complete ass of herself. Seems like it was very effective in this particular case?

So what if your fucking little angel was embarrassed?

If I knocked over a shelf in the principals office, which caused her an injury, because I was spazzing out...

MY PARENTS WOULD HAVE BEAT THE LIVING DOG SHIT OUT OF ME.

I'm not kidding, it would have been a beating so epic it would have spilled over into the next day. I probably would have any TV or computer rights I had at the time suspended for about a month. Chores would have tripled. Life would suck until I got the message that being a complete idiot in school was not acceptable.

And then one of your teachers would have seen the bruises the next day, and reported your parents to Child Protective Services.

I think they need to bring back those stocks where you put your head and hands through in the middle of public.

They should have gone to the home and handcuffed the parents too. Anyone that teaches a child that is how they should behave should be charged with child neglect.

I didn't dare even talk back to teachers , let alone do something violent like this kid.

Actually there was a big story recently I thought about this same kind of thing happening en masse in the UK. Basically young children assaulting their teachers.

Yesterday I was surrounded by 10 kids around 9-10 I'd estimate on average. They were all swinging just rolled up poster boards at me and my dog and chanting in Creole/laughing like maniacs.

I called my local police but got no advice other than they'd strongly recommend I don't do anything and keep my dog under control. This same group of kids I am finding out now have been responsible for various car vandalizing and they have been caught destroying people's mail several times.

No one is doing anything to them to stop this. They all live in one house with a couple families and apparently all were given asylum after fleeing Haiti.

It was fucked up.
