Speaking of turn-based rpgs, I think the last true turn based(not pause) that I played was Pool of Radiance Ruins of Myth Dranor. The game was awful but I loved that it was turn by turn. Haven't really seen any others like it since. lol I just remembered that that game had a bug when you uninstalled it it uninstalled your entire c:.

They've posted stretch goals.

We are excited to announce the first stretch goals for Project Eternity!

1.1 million, Base Goal – Achieved!
Base game includes three races, five classes, and five companions. We have ideas for these, but we want to hear your opinions on what you'd like to see. Stay tuned to Kickstarter, our website, and our forums to join in on the conversation.

1.4 million, New Playable Race, Class, and Companion!
Expands your options for character creation and adds a companion of the new class.

1.6 million, a Mac Version of Project Eternity and The Story Grows!
We've listened and we’ll make a Mac version of the game at this tier. We're also going to add a new major storyline along with new quests, locations, NPCs, and unique loot (special histories everyone?).

1.8 million, New Playable Race, Class, and Companion!
The options grow for your main character and the roster of your motley crew expands with the addition of a new companion from the selected class.

2.0 million, Player House!
Get your own house in the game that you can customize, store equipment in, and where your companions hang out, or, as the elves say, "chillax".

2.2 million, a new Region, a new Faction and another new Companion! And, dare we say it... ? LINUX!
Great news, everyone! For the Tarball Knights of Gzippia out there, we'll be adding Linux support!
Also, the world of Project Eternity grows in a major way with the inclusion of a whole new faction and the territory it holds. This adds new NPCs, quests, magic items, and hours of gameplay. And yes, you got it, another companion.

2.4 million and beyond! Coming Soon!

We've been listening to your feedback, and have the following announcements:

DRM Free: We are looking into it! Please check back for updates.
Digital Only Tiers are coming!
PayPal is coming asap. Please be patient!
New $5k Tier. We are looking into a new $5k tier since it sold out so quickly! We are looking into equivalent alternatives.

Thank you fans!

Obsidian

There's also a video update to go along with it.

I just hope the fact that they get their funding in advance and don't have to mess with a publisher doesn't mean they will take years and years to make the game.

I hope they have some kind of prestige classes like nwn instead of just the 5 base classes plus the few they add for meeting the goals. It really adds a lot of complexity and gives me more reason to restart characters ten thousand times and never leave the first area after 2 years of play. lol

will be following this, but i still haven't seen any KS projects that resemble what i want most which is a Might and Magic clone - open world, many cities, first person, party based and pausable combat.
Grimrock came close, but it was very narrow in scope and entirely in real-time.

DRM Free: We are looking into it! Please check back for updates!

I imagine that DRM Free not being a foregone conclusion by the developers is something that's going to rub many the wrong way?

Not really, they're allowed to protect their (our) investment against casual pirates. Some simple DRM is perfectly acceptable to me (I've never had problems with non-invasive DRM, it's when that gets in the way of legitimate users that I have a problem).

Every DRM game out there for the PC got crack one way or the other.

DRM is useless.

What old D&D games? All of the infinity engine games run fine in windows 7. Older stuff will work fine in dosbox.

Hm, a poster said that the old games will not work in Win 7 dosbox.

If they do great. I have collections still wrapped.

I've played all the original big box releases on Windows 7, though there were a couple fixes needed on one or two of the games.

No they do not work in doxbox because they were designed for windows 95/98. For the original infinity engine games (FO1, BG1, PS:T) you need to disable directdraw 2d hardware acceleration using the directx sdk tool.

There are 2 different sets of "old games" for D&D fans:

1 - Interplay infinity engine games - Windows
2 - SSI "Gold Box" games - DOS

FYI, there actually were both DOS and Windows versions of Fallout 1.

Temple of Elemental evil came out in 2003. Once it got patched with the Co8 patch, it is a pretty awesome game. And turn based.

I saw a statistic - I think it was for the 'top 1%' - that found that they spent an AVERAGE of $300,000 annually on wristwatches.

The first day they made over 1,000,000$.
The secound day they made ~400,000$ ?.

Is that normal? that you make half as much each day forwards?
So like.... this day they only make 200,000$? (ei by end of 3rd day = 1,620,000$).

4th=1,720,000
5th=1,750,000
ect
ect

Maybe the half-rate is abit extreme, and at some point that doesnt happend anymore.
But I could still see this game makeing more than 2,200,000$ in funds before its days are up.

Im kinda hopeing this game does extremely well, so more game developers choose to do some RPGs.

I don't know what "normal" is, but I imagine they won't see growth anywhere near what they've seen so far. I hope they do, but I imagine the initial buzz is dying down now, and the donations will slow considerably from here on out.

It doesn't work like that. I'm sure they'll reach a quasi-equilibrium in a week where a certain fixed amount is donated every day.

sure, but expect a surge in the last two to three days. I could easily see this project at the $3M mark by the end of the 30 days.

If anything people have more reason to donate now the goals are better than before, also the more pledges on board the more viral it goes so that should help pledges level out rather than steadily dying off.

I also suspect that many people will wait until later in the project deadline to pledge just to be more sure of what they're buying in to, if they continue to update the page and generate more press it should do well. I'd guess somewhere between $3 and $5 Million at this rate.
