For some reason I don't trust kickstarter. There are 2 backers for $10k? Really? Sounds a bit fishy.

I believe "Notch", the creator of Minecraft (and ridiculously rich at this point, I believe), tweeted about trying to buy the 10k tier but couldn't because it asked for an extra $30 for shipping & handling, or something, but the max you could pledge was 10k even.

They'll be breaking $1 million within the next few minutes it seems; they're only ~$150 shy at this moment.

Edit: Just as I typed the above, they broke $1 million.

I went in for $35 as I'm a sucker for monster manuals and the ilk. Comes from being a pen 'n' paper GM
Really wanted to go for more, but currently saving for more important life stuff (wedding, car, house...)

You're right, there's a huge demand for good smart games. Unfortunately the big game companies usually won't bother with anything that can't be played on a console by a 5 year old.

You really mean that? you must be with the minority of rpg fans.... anyways there are dime a dozen horrible action RPGs out there already, or even worse..... first person shooter rpg's, go play one of those instead.

This project is about the type of games that arnt being made, and people have been missing for 12+ years.
Ei. Fallout I&II, Planescape Torment, Icewind dale I&II, Baldurs Gate I&II.

Maybe your too young to have played any of the games above? or just the oddball in this thread?
