Too late already I think. The Reps could delay approval until Trump takes office, just like they did with Barrett.

No they can't. D's control the senate and the filibuster doesn't exist for judicial nominations.

I personally am not aware of Kamala having been a gaffe machine.

She misspoke there but it was in an interview, nobody can be expected to give all flawless answers in impromptu situations. It was a gotcha question she wasn't ready for. She could/should have framed her answer differently and not be fodder for attack ads. Still, it wasn't some horrible thing she said, it was just hyped up by the Republican propaganda machine against her.
It was a horrible response, and I don't think it was a "gotcha" question, since it happened on The View. It was a golden opportunity to distance herself a bit from the perceived mistakes of the Biden regime without totally throwing him under the bus. Imagine how she would have handled the proposed Joe Rogan interview. Kamala is not a gaffe machine, in the sense that Biden always was and became worse with age, but I dont think she is particularly nimble on her feet, so to speak, in non-scripted scenarios. Every time I saw her in those situations, my first response was: Damn, I wish it was Buttigieg up there.

Kamala made a half hearted (IMO) attempt to appeal to the working middle class, but personally I never really believed it was her heart was in it. And again, her proposals to help the middle class were were directed toward child credits and first time home buyers. Surprisingly, about half of the households in the US have no children in the household (single or married with no kids at home). A great uptapped demographic that she missed out on.
I am in this group, and already own my home, so I never really felt that voting for Kamala was going to make my life better, except that she would not actively eff things up in the way that Trump will. (And yes, I voted for her, but without any sense of great enthusiasm. Considering the turnout, apparently a lot of people felt that way, but were not sufficiently put off by Trump to bother to go vote against him.)

OK, point taken, I thought it took 60%. That said, the new Congress takes over Jan 3, with possible holidays for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so that is still a very tight time frame. And as always,Manchin and Sinema are still wild cards, and both are leaving, so who knows what they would do. As someone else said though, the Reps already have a 6-3 majority, and none of them are likely to be leaving soon, so I dont know if one more seat really will change things much. When the SC refused to go along with some of Trump's election fraud claims, I though they might actually act in a non-partisan manner. Subsequent events, especially the immunity ruling, have clearly proven otherwise.

The filibuster has been gone for judges for years.

Why should we? She cost us the republic.

If you want to be mad at somebody be mad at voters who are like "Yeah he says some crazy stuff but I don't believe any of it even through if I am wrong it could, quite horribly, impact me personally"

No, I'll stay pissed at the dipshit DNC for picking a trash candidate who couldn't drive turnout when it was crystal clear a year ago Biden was dead in the water and the party needed to go in a whole new direction.

The modern parties (both the Rs and the Ds) are fundamentally weak and at the mercy of their own political dynamics. There is not some smoke filled room somewhere where they decide on the nominee every four years.

They decided to stick with Biden when it was obvious he would lose and look where we are now.

I read some of Project 25 today. Conservative manifesto for US federal government and struck me as pretentious, partisan, self-affirming and with no sense of fairness. I'm sure these people are fine with gerrymandering and voter suppression in their efforts to ensure their aims. I could smell the evangelical Christian influence..., well, I saw it too. I'm sure they will lean on Trump to appoint the people they recommend. One thing though. Trump likes to assert his authority in terms of his making the decisions. Of course, his judgement can be laughably terrible. Or worse.
Sorry, Fuhrer Trump is going to be a rubber stamp for the heritage foundation. He's too lazy to be anything else. He's president for the rallies, photo ops, the ass kissing from his party and cabinet, and for the ability to be above the law. But Vance will be the actual workhorse of this dictatorship until Trump thinks he's too powerful and disappears him.

I wasn't aware of her ducking her Rogan interview. I thought it was going to follow Trump's. Guess she and/or her team blew it there. 45M views? I didn't watch a second, hit stop in the middle of the one Rogan interview I watched, during the pandemic and decided to avoid Rogan's stuff.

Yeah, maybe it was best to flip him off.
Only time I watched a full Rogan interview was when he had Michael Osterholm on to discuss the pandemic in late February 2020 or early March 2020. It was an amazing interview and one of the most informative pieces of media I had seen back when everyone else was giving useless advice like wash your hands and don't touch your face.

I was shocked to find out Rogan was a right wing loon hyping horse pills for COVID and having nutcases like Tim Pool on all the time after having one of the world's greatest experts on infectious diseases come on and personally educate him about how the pandemic would play out and be pretty accurate.

I do blame the Democratic machine for fucking us royally with Biden and being so so so fucking stupid about that. Most likely the single worst mistake the Dems have made in my lifetime, at the most important time in my lifetime. I will never forgive them for that. I so want to switch to Independent, and I did say that if Biden didn't get out I would register and an independent, but he did get pushed out - so I will stay a Democrat.

Even though it pains me to do so. In NJ next year we have a gubernatorial primary and then race to win, plus local ones, so I'll be active in those races. I figure it will be nice to help keep NJ nice a bit longer until Trump's federal government destroys what we have here too. And then I pray to the lord Jesus I'm in Europe. I've even started to think of Ireland, they speak English and hate the British, so that's a win win. Plus the beer!

But the Democratic machine did not give us Kamala.

Put the blame in the right places for the right things.

They sound like the radical far leftists I can't stand and have been arguing with on Threads - until I deleted my account on Threads last night because I couldn't stand dealing with MAGA level idiots, but on the left.

Why, you don't think letting Biden steamroll the primary was a terrible decision?

I don't really have much of an opinion on what the DNC did for their candidate selection, which I think I already said repeatedly? I've never been registered as a Democrat.

Absolutely. That is the only Joe Rogan interview I've watched and I already knew that Dr. Michael Osterholm was uncommonly cognizant of what was going on with Covid-19. But Rogan was horrible and I bailed on it mid-way and resolved to ignore Rogan have never accessed anything else involving him.

This is a matter of survival for you though - I am a privileged straight white guy - you don't have an opinion of a colossal mistake that may have been able to prevent the clusterfuck of a situation we had to beat Trump this year, and given us a better shot? I mean this could be life and death for you

I live in one of the safest places in the country for someone like me, and I have contingencies in place regarding my safety. I have no idea if the Democrats could field a better candidate, and I thought Biden was a terrible candidate when chosen in 2020, one of my absolute bottom picks, so I'm probably not a good person to ask.

Good to hear you have things planned. I hope they involve getting a gun for the home, if you don't have one already.

Some opinions at NYTimes. Just read the 1st which gives hope. Alter says the margin in the Senate is not enough for GOP to nation-wide ban abortion, gut the Civil Service, get us out of NATO, confirm RFKJr for a cabinet position or elevate Aileen Cannon to the SCOTUS. And he credits the Democratic get out the vote people for that.
