US suppliers, importers prepare for promised Trump tariff

Companies are pulling orders up and shifting where they source stuff in the future. Both of these coping tactics cost $ and you the consumer will be paying soon enough.
They're going to get their supplies for relatively cheap, but then sell at inflated prices when tariffs kick in, making a nice little profit for the foresight to build a nest egg of supplies.

Yes the Dems should be bragging like all the time. But it also requires people to get out of their info bubble.

Example: wifey came to me yesterday and asked if P2025 was the Dems plan? She had seen this on FB for like two days. I said no, and a simple google search would tell you different. Millions of people can simply not be bothered to vet information, and don’t have any else to help them.

A whole lot of people also simply decided what Trump was saying didn't apply to them personally. "He's not going to deport me because I work and have been here for years" "He's not gonna tariff the imports my business depends on because it doesn't make sense". Millions chose to see what they wanted to see not what was in front of them.

I think price increases will proceed tariffs since it costs money to do this and because they can.

What do you think are the odds that the price hikes are so bad that in ~ 2 years (just before midterms), Trump rescinds most of them, prices "fall back" to 2024 era, and he claims victory for "lowering prices?"

It might just work on this electorate. If voting even matters by then.

Supposedly they want to also put them in the tax deal as a revenue raiser which would make it near impossible to remove. Lower and middle class would take the extra cost up the rear permanently.

Well, he claims they are going to cut taxes so much that they will offset the cost of tariffs. Supposedly. Didn't he even float the idea of no taxes altogether?

It sounds laughable but if Elon recommends gutting 90% of the government, I guess they don't need any revenue at that point? (I'm not saying this is a good idea, only that this is how they might try to make the numbers work)

Trump said a lot of things. Now voters get to find out which of them he was serious about and I do not think they are going to enjoy it.

Working in various customer facing positions they have to do this because you need to be prepared to buy more products at a higher cost AND you need to be prepared for if prices fall and you for lower margins. Extra money is needed for each scenario.

I saw a few GOP candidates talking about getting rid of Income taxes, but I believe they wanted a national sales tax (a la VAT) instead. I'm wondering how they plan on funding things like police or local road repairs, etc.

Why haven't there been mass firings within the DNC already? Do these people care? Or are they planning on blaming Latinos for jumping ship? What's the next shitty strategy from them going to be?

Mea culpa on my end - I have been kinda harsh the past few years on the Bernie Bros for 2016. But now I see that the Democrat consultant class is utterly to blame. I don't know if Bernie would have ever won, I don't even know the answer moving forward. But relying on "not Trump," abortion and trying to shove hyper nuanced economic numbers down the throat of people who are financially hurting as a strategy to save the day was clearly NOT the answer. Completely capitulating the male vote was NOT the answer. Fuck these people, they need to be gone yesterday.

Before everyone jumps on the idiotic fire everyone crowd, it is important to a) look at the vote totals which are still being tabulated and certified, b) look at races outside of the presidency, and c) look at areas where there was heavy campaigning vs not so heavy. If I recall, the Trump shift was not as prominent in areas where Harris had been campaigning.

Also, throwing out principles and throwing people under the bus to capture the racist, homophobic male vote is not a good strategy.

Millions of Trump voters fucked around. I can't wait for them to find out and silently eat the shit Trump is going to serve them, never admitting how they were duped, many of them claiming they were victims of a liberal plot that made them vote for the Orange turd. They will either stubbornly double down on Trump or simply walk away from their mistake as the new silent majority.

I’ve been asking the maga people what a successful Trump admin looks like and pinning them down on giving me a number and correcting them when they try to bring up inflation and the economy. So far they can’t give me a straight answer. Maybe I should create a thread about it.

It's useless. Because outside of the bro-ligarchs and some other niche groups, they're mostly just morons.

Oh great, so the gap between the rich and poor will just keep on going. About as regressive a tax as there exists.
