How do you know it's slower than a Viper or Z06? The track is mainly driver dependant anyway. I've seem '01 Cobras run with Z06s at the track with nothing more than brake changes. I wouldnt buy ANY car for that kind of money. Well except for the Ford GT then I'd drive around with no pants on.

LOL,

Some folks still don't realize that a mustang is a pice of sh!t.

There's no getting around it. Sure it may be an incredibly fast piece of sh!t, but it still is brown, ugly and stinks.

Nope, seriously. I owned one. My wife owned a saleen. One of about 7 sports cars I've owned.

Worst car ever. My new '96 cobra was fun but it was still a piece of sh!t. Dished it after 18 months.

Oh well, 'least I speak from experience. I want so badly for the mustang to be a nice ride. But alas it sucks.

Well now, that was sure a compelling argument.

Hmmmm!

What more do I need to say? Anyone who knows something about cars, will know that Powermac is barking up the wrong tree. So what kind of car do you drive PowerMac?

Are you one of those people who debate about cars they don't own? What do you drive?

I had a '96 GT for four years: no problems. an '02 Stage 1 Roush for six months: no problems(until I drove an '03 Cobra) '03 Cobra: no problems except for a squeaky window which was fixed. They're not perfect or for everyone but they certainly dont suck. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but for every one bad experience there are countless good ones.

True. Just left a very bad taste in my mouth. The cobra was fun though just didn't handle as tight as I like.

That being said my buddy has an RSX type r or s or whatever it is....

Nice, fun, sporty, pretty quick ride for the money. Well appointed too.

you gotta be fvckin kiddin me right??? uve seen 2001 cobras with 320 horses beat a 405 hp or 385 hp Z06 at its own game on the track? either the z06 driver was sh!t or the cobra was heavily modded.

im not a guy that likes to take car editors at their word, i prefer real numbers but here is a quick link with the viper and z06 and cobra r in a shootout.

Shootout

"In the Cobra's defense, it was not in top form the day we were at Willow. The vehicle was delivered to us with heavily worn rear tires, and cords were visible on them by late morning. We actually had to stop testing the Cobra midway through the day at Willow in order to drive it back down to Los Angeles for a new set of rear tires. If a fresh set of tires had been provided at the beginning, the lap times would have almost certainly been better. Additional help could have come from testing at a faster track. The increased downforce benefits from the Cobra R's rear wing and front air splitter were underutilized on the Street's relatively slow corners.

That said, a majority of our editors said that the Cobra R was the most fun car to drive. It is in a racetrack environment that you get to experience all of the Cobra R's modifications working together in a sort of UAW pact. The suspension is similar to the regular Cobra's but features stiffer Eibach springs, Bilstein shock absorbers and stiffer suspension and subframe bushings. The race-compound BFGoodrich g-Force KD tires (when not worn down to the cords) provide plenty of grip and work well with the suspension to inform the driver as to the levels of traction available. Even without stability control, we felt we could trust the car when driving it on the tight turns of Streets of Willow. Repeatedly reducing speed via the Brembo brakes is easy thanks to an excellent pedal feel, though the long vertical separation between the brake and throttle pedals make heel-and-toe downshifts difficult."

Nope, driver skill is everything when going into\out of turns. Straightaways are where the Z06 and Viper will outshine but on a slow track everything is evened out more because of the reduced speed. Yes again it was an '01 Cobra with no mods except brakes. the guy has been instructing track driving for 15 years so that helps but the performance is there if you have the training. I wouldnt expect it to do well on a fast track because of the power difference but the power is lost on a slow track.

Driving and the driver is the key to racing obviously. Like you said, the guy was drivin for 15 years and knew the track inside out. But if he got in the Z06, don't you think he could best his times from the 01 Cobra? Even if the track is slow, the Z06 outhandles a 01 Cobra and has +85 hp and less weight. I heard Z28 and WS6 out accerlated a Cobra 01, nm a Z06. My point is with equal drivers, the Z06 would beat a Cobra on the track because of the extra horsepower and better handling.

Dude stop posting in my thread, you are seriously retarded. Go drive your all american dodge omni to school and leave me to actual questions.

That being said, any RSX owners around that can vouch for reliability?

Well, chalk up one more post for me versus 10 for Millennium! I gues that's how people get huge post numbers around these parts.

As for the RSX, I can't vouch for reliability myself but I do have to say that it's an Acura/Honda. That probably speaks volumes really.

Also, just to chime in on all the thread-crapping - the Cobra R is a very nice, very expensive and very exclusive car. But it's a very nice, very expensive and very exclusive Ford Mustang variant. To me that's like living in the nicest house in an average neighborhood. Maybe back in 2000 ... but now in 2003 naaaahhhh.

Allstate is the devil. I don't understand how they can still be in business with the ridiculous quotes they give people. I'm in my thirties, married with 2 kids, no accidents or tickets and they still quote me 2X anybody else.

they quote me the same as progressive and everyone else i've checked

80-90k for a Ford ... no thanks, even thou 1/2 the parts are German made and designed I wouldn't buy one. The engine is still a gas sucker (high displacement , and no power) and I am sure the tranny is usual Ford grade C quality. I would buy a 350Z or and R32 save 30k and be happy I have a well made car instead of a cookie cutter mustang with a bigger engine and a nifty looking civic wing.

Yes I live in NJ... ;). Also this would be my first car so I haven't had time to build up my car insurance. Plus Im in my early 20s so yea heheh.

Prudential wanted $7000 from me in '97 for my new '97 Prelude SH when I was 27, had a perfectly clean record and a license for 9 years.

State Farm or Liberty Mutual should give you a much better rate than from those ripoff artists.

Good lord!!! What the hell is wrong with these insurance companies???? I only pay $900 a year for my 95' BMW 318ti and im 24!!! Just $450 every 6 months.
Maybe its where everyone lives that causes it to be so freaking high?? Live near Chattanooga, TN here...

I am 24 paying 3400.00 a year for a 1994 VW GTI and I am not even primary driver on the thing. I have a few tickets but nothing major at all.
