Got an 87% on the final, 88% average on lab, 75% average on exams. But here's the kicker, I have a 40% average on homework that accounts for 15% of my grade. If it weren't for the homework, I would be getting a B, easily. The homework involves copying answers from the back of the book, so it's not like it proves my competency in the class.
I'm going to talk to the science dean about it, see if I could get my grade bumped up.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
It is your fault, stop blaming somebody else and looking for excuses.

It's not about who's fault or who's to blame(did I even blame anyone?). It's about being rational.
Your grade isn't there to reflect your effort, it's there to reflect how well you understand the material. I haven't had one single professor that wouldn't have given me a B based on my final grade/lab grade.
My physics professor dropped my homework grade, as it dropped my overall grade by 5%. My last chem professor gave me a B since I had an 88% exam average, but a 15% homework average.
Your kind of thinking is what's wrong with the education system. The education system is about learning, not doing a bunch of busy work.

Grade inflation in action. A "C" shouldn't be bad. It should be normal. A "D" should be bad.
Fiddle-faddle.
Buck up, work harder next time, and feel good that even a poor student (like me) can be successful in post-college life.

One coud make the argument that people like you, with a sense of entitlement are what are really ruining the educational system. You realize you're saying "I did poorly on the homework, but I don't think that should be reflected in my grade".
I mean, from where I'm sitting, it looks like you're trying to avoid doing what YOU don't think is important, and who are you to say?

I think busy work is dumb. Wastes everyone's time. No one should spend time doing things just to get a grade. They should spend time to learn the material. If work isn't needed to learn the material, it should be ignored.

Sense of entitlement? So tell me, what is the goal of going to school? To learn. Thus, what should your grades reflect? How well you learned right?
So prove to me, how the fvck does the amount of homework you did prove how well you learned?
Should joe dumbass who spends 5hrs a night on homework, that does poorly on the test deserve a better grade than einstein who doesn't do his homework but aces the tests?
You don't seem to grasp the concept of busy work if you think you can finish it in 5 minutes if it's easy.Originally posted by: Fenixgoon

qfmft. if homework is that easy, then you should be done in 5 minutes!
so far i only have 2 out of 5 grades - 1x A+ and 1x B. the others should be A's, but knowing how retarded one of my classes is, i could possibly have a B in it >-<

The point of busy work is that it takes no brain power to do, but takes a lot of manual labor. Moron.

homework doesn't always equal busy work- it's for reinforcement of concepts - you know, for the times you won't understand something (and it WILL happen). if you think you're so smart, then you should have shown it on all of your tests. clearly you aren't the chem god you lead us to believe, because you didn't get a 100% on your exams, labs, or final. if you want the grade, do the work necessary, or take your C and quit b!tching. part of school is learning, the other part is learning to work when you do want to.

Keep coming with those straw man arguments, but you just make yourself look dumber every time.
I never once claimed homework is always busy work. But in this case, 50% of the homework was busy work. I did most of the other half as I found it helpful, but I couldn't be arsed to spend 18 hours copying 15 pages of question and answers from the book that's nothing but a waste of time.
I never claimed I was a chem god, but I certainly understand more about chem than a C student.
but I couldn't be arsed to spend 18 hours copying 15 pages of question and answers from the book that's nothing but a waste of time.
