Living in some of the places I have I've become acustomed with 40c weather. Every few years if I fancy going back "home" for a few weeks in late summer it might pop into the high 30s and I'll find it lovely while the locals will be sucking down ice lollies all day long.

I've been outside most of today doing some moving of some stuff and sucking down the water. I've spent upwards of 8 minutes at the lav emptying my bladder. The pains of doing work outside in the summer and drinking fluids all day long. there's enough urine to change the water level in the bowl!
The problem is it has been never ending this summer in San Antonio, and it's not a dry heat like say the Arizona or California deserts. Not trying to say it's worse than what Phoenix had last month by any means, but it's not the same as 40C would be there either. It was quite humid today and our heat index was 110F = 44C thanks to a 67F = 19.4C dewpoint whereas with a more desert like 45F = 7.2C dew point like say Barstow, CA has right now you'd be talking about a heat index of only 100F = 38C at 104F = 40C. And it has been like this for ten straight days now and we have been above 100F = 38C for 37 of the last 39 days, with the other two being 99F = 37.2. 40C for more than a week and a half in a non desert climate sucks hard. This area is only supposed to get 19 days of 100F = 38C per year on average and we're at 48 right now with 18 days of the hottest month remaining. Hell we have had 14 days of 105+ this year when our previous record was 4. This is not the kind of climate that should be getting to 40C regularly. It's a humid grassland, not a desert area.

Rain tonight and stable for the rest of the week.

The weekend is bringing some of the heat from the South to the Great Lakes Region. Temps in the low 30C's for a few days.

Now this is just perverse: we're literally getting a cold front coming in tomorrow, but it'll only drop our temperatures to 102F = 39C.

When I took the dog out for his last walk of the day last night, I found it was oppressive out there.

It was 78 with a dew point of 74.

It was 37 yesterday with humid air, and then it rained heavily at night. everything is like mud outside. back to warm to very hot temps the next few days and then some more wet weather late next week. to think I paid to have my vehicle washed and waxed on sunday. I keep it in the garage when I can but hoping it doesn't rain during the day. it did last thursday which is why I got it washed and waxed days later.

At least it's not too humid

Don't see any way we have a low of 74 overnight though. It's more like 77-78 at 6-7AM when we hit our daily lows.

Well well, ERCOT is forecasting a shortfall of 100MW or so around 8PM CST tonight based on demand vs committed capacity, but they claim they have another ~2000 MW of available capacity they can turn on.

Your low is still hotter than our high temp for the day. I don"y think we hit 70F.

The marine layer rolled in over night with clouds, fog, and drizzle. For a change, it didn't burn off by noon

Our low was probably 10 degrees higher than your high. Our actual low was 78. Don't know where that 74 prediction was coming from.

Another low 70's day today, 77 tomorrow and the heat wave of mid 80's starts Sunday.

This large high pressure system combined with the gulf water's record high temps could mean a tropical system can develop very quickly. It should be an interesting week or two.

Stay cool.
