This death ridge we have been under since early July is so strong we're only dropping to the historical average for August 22nd (96) tomorrow because of a hit from a tropical storm. And then the next day it's back to 100s.

Smoky AF today, which is a bummer since the storm brought in better (lower) temps than we've been getting and I was hoping to go work outside.

The MidWest Heat Dome is moving East to the Great Lakes Region but it will just glance my area. Thursday is supposed to 30C but a cold front is expected Friday and temps will drop to the low 20C's for the next 5 days.

17C right now with showers.

The pos is back to South Texas again, here at least another two weeks. Has been here since early July then we got a one day reprieve yesterday.

Supposed to be 100 or more here in Tallahassee tomorrow and for the weekend. If we get there it will be record breaking highs. :(

79F with 65% humidity and 65% dewpoint.

It looks like our lows are going to dip down into the 40s a couple of times this week.

Just got our 57th day of 100+ in San Antonio, tying 2011 for 3rd place on years with most days of 100+ here. 2011 was the year so hot and with such intense drought in Texas that cows were dying en masse and being rushed to market while so many ranchers went under, which Cargill and the other three members of America's meat packer cartel used to jack beef prices up to hell as the first big step towards $10 meals at McDonalds.

Anyways tomorrow we'll tie 2022 for second most days of 100+ in a year with 58, and then Saturday we'll tie 2009 for most days of 100+ in a year here with 59. Then Sunday and Monday we'll blow past to 61 days before a cold front comes in Tuesday that will take us to anywhere from 95 to 99 according to forecasts. That'll hopefully keep us under 100 for 3-4 days before we see our next 100s and build on that lead for shittiest summer ever here.

Tons of rain last night so SE MI made the national news with flooding. Only minor issues at our house but most of the roads around us were closed due to flooding. Was a tad interesting trying to get out and to the west side of the state for a planned overnight visit. Once here we got caught in a crazy storm with perhaps a tornado. Either way tons of trees down across the roads making for detours and one lane roads all over the place, not to mention most of the stop lights are without power.

Finally made it to our hotel (which has power). Looking at the news there WAS a tornado just a couple miles from our house back east so hopefully nothing bad to return to

Overall it's been an interesting 24 hours

10C right now, suppose to go down to 3. We're at that part of year where the nights get cooler. The days seem to hover in the 20's. Good weather to do outdoor work though when it's not raining.

Did an overnight camping trip on my off grid property the other day to start clearing a trail, it was not fun going out to pee when it was cold out, but the day was decent to work in and hardly no bugs. So much stuff to bring though... I think the next trip I will just go super early in the morning then leave at night so it's less stuff to bring.

I used to like chopping wood in the 40's, early am in the fall. Go out in a flannel shirt, hat and leather gloves - then toss all that after twenties minutes when I start to really sweat my *ss off. That cool crisp dry air was the best.

So that weather we had a couple of days back resulted in 6 confirmed tornados in Michigan with a few more probables. One touched down just 2 miles southeast of my house. Lots and lots of flooding in the area and uprooted trees. Tons of people looking for basement\house remediation work and car towing\repair work. Quite a number of people didn't get power back until late yesterday. DTE says that was only the last 3% but my random sample size suggests that is probably wrong. Which also lines up with how terrible their outage tracking is - they kept saying our sub didn't have power yet we never lost it.

We were very fortunate to not only never lose power but have no real flooding issues. I had a tiny amount of water get into my basement but that will be relatively easy to address long term compared to what many in the area have dealt with

Even after a cold front came in we still hit 100 today in San Antonio, which puts our average high temperature for the month at 103.333. The month with the record for highest average high temperature is July 2022 at 101.7. So San Antonio's highs over the next three days would have to average less than 88.1 for August 2023 to not go down as the hottest month ever recorded here. The forecast is 99, 101, 100 for those three days. Also we set the record for most days of 100+ in a year in San Antonio yesterday, at 60. So now it's 61 with today's 100 degree high.

22C. I turned off my outside hose yesterday, I should probably purge the line now while I'm thinking of it. The nights get pretty close to freezing now. We did have one night that went to 0.

Pretty sticky out today but it's only 77, cloudy with a breeze, so that mitigates the humidity quite a bit

It was pretty nice on my daily walk home tonight. For some reason, the govt here decided to cut down all the trees by the roadside. Dunno what they plan to do.
