If you read the study it actually claims the only way you can get that is from holding down the power button for 100 seconds, and at that point it would be so hot it would cause instant pain upon inhalation, this is not something you can accidentally do, you would have to go out of your way to create a situation where you would inhale that.

But hey, lets just post sensationalized articles instead of reading the actual study :D

Every battery I have purchased since these things came out has a 10 second shutoff.

I use a mech mod with a sub ohm build but even with that the battery never stays at a constant voltage enough to create the required power for those formaldehyde particles to be formed.

I still like using the Nautilus, but even messing with the Atlantis still fresh out the box,no way are they similar vaporwise with this thing at 30.

My wife read that article on WebMD and she freaked out. God, that FUD can be so annoying. "Yes honey, I typically vape at 1,200° for 100 seconds".

If any of you guys are subohm drippers that quit the tanks for lack of airflow, try the Goblin.

I just received one built it a .55Ω with 9wrap 2mm 26 guage coils and I am really liking it thus far. Not on par with a wide open dripper but very, very good for a tank.

Hadn't used a tank since the original Kayfun because I couldn't get the vapor production and warmth anywhere near a dripper. It is lightyears ahead of the Kayfun v1.

Vape On

Someone at the vape shop last night bought a goblin. I have a mutation x RDA I take with me to taste juices. For my tank I build horizontal coils for my Atlantis and that seems to be good enough for when I'm out and about. I'll have to check out that goblin though.

That looks very smexy actually, but I'm done for a bit now :)

Ans maybe a near future thing.

The Atlantis has a ton of airflow and warmth, more than I'm used to actually.

Vape on :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Just picked up another mini protank 3 and another bottle of juice from a local shop. These "my vapez" shops are popping up all over here in NOVA. Tobacco companies have to be worried lol.

I wonder though, why buy into a franchise for a relatively new market? Has to be so easy to source inventory and just run the shop yourself. Weird.

I can see this turning into an expensive hobby, but can't be nearly as bad as my homebrewing addiction. :D

rocking the sub ohm and atlantis now. Time to find some upgraded tanks
The Atlantis is a pain to rebuild coils for. I always do horizontal because they are easy but those two extra side holes make it leak like all hell. Wonder how the kanger subtank is.

I see lots of Atlantis recommendations but not so much for the Kanger Subtank. I for one give the Subtank a HUGE thumbs up. From many reviews (and personal experience) the Subtank (mini is what I have) has better flavor, plus you can't beat a tank that includes a so easy to use rebuildable deck with it. Give it a shot, it's well worth the investment. I'm currently rocking a .4ohm build with Japanese Cotton juiced up with a local shops brew called Mt. Voltage. Tastes JUST. LIKE. MT. DEW. VOLTAGE. Sooo addicting that it's my daily driver juice.

Any leaking? Those look like horizontal coils too. The bvc heads of the Atlantis cause it to leak due to the side holes that aren't being used if you do horizontal builds. Any vertical coil I try to get firing on the Atlantis never fires correctly.

I haven't had any leaking issues with the Subtank Mini (I've only had it for about 2 or 3 weeks so far). I've run the .5 OCC coil which, BTW, is an AWESOME coil by itself, though about 6 or 7 tanks of juice without any loss in flavor or vape. I've only recently started playing with the RBA deck on it. I've done a couple builds but this is the one that I've stuck with. It's a wrapped/twisted 28ga Kanthal build. I can run up to 30 watts wide open airflow if I want to without any wicking issues with the coil/cotton I'm using right now. It almost makes me wish I had a little more power to play with haha

Edit: And yes, that is a horizontal coil.

I also like the idea of a vertical coil like in the Atlantis and Nautilus Mini as to me it seems like it'd flow air over the coil more evenly. That being said, they aren't quite as conducive to rebuilding as the horizontal coils. When you do a horizontal build in a vertical coil housing like in the Atlantis, do you wrap your build in a "flavor wick" to help close up the problem air holes?

What I usually do is wrap 24g wire on a drill bit that fits through the two Atlantis bvc holes on one side. Then I take a few thin pieces of cotton and shove them down blocking the other two holes on the opposite sides. I then put some cotton through the open holes that line up with the horizontal coil. Even this way, it leaks surprisingly at the worst times, while I'm driving, or just holding it tilted or when the cotton gets all absorbent.

I use a mech mod with efest 2500mah batteries which usually fully charge to 4.2v. The coil I have in there now is about .5 ohms.

I'll have to check out the kanger subtank myself because the way you describe it, I can use a horizontal coil all I want and not worry about leakage..in the Atlantis the juice comes out of the adjustable air holes because the bvc screws in upside down so juice leaks through into the base and then out the adjustable airways if you don't do a vertical coil and block the two other holes.

I tried about 4 times to do a vertical build and they never fired right. I stuck to horizontal because I also have mutation x RDA so I've gotten used to easily making a horizontal build without issues.

Dude, you guys are getting so close to rebuildables (Kanger sub tank actually is one) that you might as well go with a true RTA. Not having to buy heads is such a joy and you can tune it however you want. I used to buy kanger tanks and coils etc etc, and all the money I spent I could have bought a kayfun. So I learned and bought a damn kayfun! I use a Kayfun 4 now, and it was expensive, but that was a one time only cost. The thing kicks epic ass and kanthal wire and cotton is practically free.

Well the Atlantis tank and kanger subtank are meant to have coils built for them. It just seems like the kanger tank is less of a hassle. I'm probably going to end up getting one because I have enough wire and cotton and rebuilding for the Atlantis is kind of a pain.

who has time to rebuild shit?

I'll just pay the $2 for a new coil and not have to take the time or deal with the hassle.

Atlantis coils are about $20+ tax for 5 of them at my shop and they barely last a few days. They do work good though.

I get at least 2 weeks out of my coils w/o doing anything special.
I use 70vg juice and its clear juice too. Not sure what happens or I keep getting duds but you can tell when they go bad because the flavor is subdued a lot and the vapor starts getting worse. That's when I just take them apart and build horizontal coils but those just end up leaking if you don't do it right.
