Don't listen to these guys. As long as you and your roommate are responsible this would work out. I think your friendship would deepen from the sharing of finances.

Please provide me your social so we can start this so-called sharing.

P.S. Do you have any 401k I can clean out?

ATOT has a heart.

With a roommate, never.

I will confess that my gf and I have a joint checking account and a credit card we use for food, rent, etc, but we also maintain separate accounts. I don't think we would ever do just joint even if one of us stopped working.

That is a horrible idea. Seriously, don't do this.

Fuck, I didn't even get a joint account with my WIFE until we had been married for 6-7 years.

On a side note, this may be the most one sided poll ever on these forums.

Hello friend,

I have an exciting opportunity for you! Recently, a Prince died in Ethiopia. He has left a large amount of money, and all you need to do for it to be yours is to send money to us to unlock the funds. Please reply quickly!

This interests me very much! I would like to propose that we set up a joint checking account so that we might have access to the money while in the US and in Ethiopia. We can do this! Do you accept Western Union?

We could have an ATOT wide joint account. Members could contribute according to ability and only take according to need. We would be able to teach important money management skills as this seems to be an area of some interest here on ATOT. We would likely quickly accumulate enough in the account to qualify for higher interest earnings!

It's a plan!

I especially like the fools who think the roommate would have to hunt down the other account holder and would even have a legal standing in court.

"your honor, it was a joint account, these are considered joint funds regardless of who deposited them"
