This is without a doubt, the worst idea ever presented here. And there are some pretty stupid people here.

This is a 'go ahead and shoot yourself now' idea. Trust me it will save the heartbreak in the end.

I foresee a People's Court episode in your future.

107-3 so far 😛

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that money (or in some cases, lack of it) makes people do funny or strange things. I'd be reluctant to open a JAcct with a spouse, let alone a roommate.

Such a terrible and horrible idea.

However I want you to go through with it so later down the road we can enjoy a thread titled "Ex-roommate screwed me out of my checking account."

Shit like that doesn't even work well for married folks. You think you're special?

Really? Coming up on our 25th anniversary and we have had everything joint for the entire time with no problem. That said I think it is batshit crazy when it comes to roommates.

This is such a bad idea that I voted it as being a good idea because I hope you take it. Because you deserve it.

BTW it does work for some married folks. Just not all. For some reason my parents' accounts are split. My wife and I have had a joint account in fact since before we were married and it works absolutely perfectly. We come as close to never bickering about money as human beings reasonably can and have no issues.

No means OP will live happily ever after and we'll never hear about this again.

Yes means much lulz and many threads at OPs expense.

I voted yes.

Can I laugh at you when you are crying on Judge Judy?

Those shows are totally BS. What happens is the show puts money in a pool. Its not your money, or the other guys money. The show provides the money. If you win, the judge gives you the money. If the other guy wins, he gets the money. If there is no money awarded, you guys split the pot.

When are you people going to learn to vote YES! for things like this?

Never heard of lol investment? Stuff like this can turn into big returns in the lol department!

3 Months in the future...
"I woke up in a Taiwanese brothel in a tub of ice with a note that said "nice meating you" I dont know where my roomate is and our shared account is drained!"

sorta right. There is a pool of $5000 that each of you will split prior to judgement. The judgement comes out of your $2500 if you are the defendant and lose. So the plaintiff has a chance to get more than the $2500.

They also pay for your airfare and accomodations. This of course how most of the judge shows work although you might get paid more to be on judge judy.

ATOT has a heart.

As far as sharing a bank account, I pick no, but not just regular no. I pick the kind of no that hurts. The blunt no. The no that crushes souls, hopes, and dreams. It's a big no. If my no were an actual object, it would dwarf the very universe in which we live. My no is so powerful, so intense, so all-encompassing that even Satan himself would cry a sea of tears at the very mention of the degree of my no.
