Actually, vertical cuts were used back in the day for c-sections. The horizontal cut that they try to hide in with her boosh (assuming there is one) is a relatively recent technique.

'Back in the day,' when a woman was admitted to have a baby, the first thing they'd do is shave her bare. Those poor women! As if pushing another person out of your body and the subsequent hormonal rollercoaster ride wasn't enough, they had to deal with a re-growing lady garden a day or two after delivery.

It's amazing dads weren't being murdered in droves.
