Jedi, if they're strong enough, disappear. That's how it happens. And their spirit has the ability to roam. Some spirits, if the jedi was strong enough, can actually do things in the after life. Anyone heard of XarKun? The guy that wrote this article is a numbskull. If you're not strong enough in the force, you don't disappear. Big effin deal.

Uh... no. I think we need a more official explanation. The expanded universe is nice and all, but official "doctrine" can be changed easily with a movie or two...

XarKun was strong enough in the force to be able to wield a single sided lightsaber in each hand (only 2), and control two more that floated out in front of him, or behind him, or wherever with the force. Well, either that or he was the inventor of the double-bladed saber. I don't remember which right now. I'm tired. When he was finally killed after his reign of chaos, his spirit roamed the planet that he was killed on and was able to kill people.

Do you have any idea what book this is from?

Ask the Lucasfilm Jedi Council Rick McCallum Answer
Q: I was disappointed that Clones didn't answer the question why some Jedi disappear when they die and some don't. Will this ever be answered?
A: That's a good question. A really good question.
Only George [Lucas] knows that answer for real. Hopefully it will be illuminated in Episode III. I've asked him a dozen times and he always looks at me like, "What? Are you a fan?"
I thought you had quoted me and I was like "WTF?!"Originally posted by: ffmcobalt

Or blatantly changes it at his whim and negates books and comics in the past that have been widely accepted. :| Lucas is a WANKER. But that aside, it's quite possible for him to have failed. But with such a huge fan base and such close attention to detail, there's got to be a good reason that someone didn't speak up and go "okay... why he no go poof too!?"Originally posted by: MaxDepth
Could the explanation be something as simple as Lucas' own failure as writer and director?
That he ignores or forgets the mythology he created?

Here is a clear explanation. It's a film. That 'explanation' is a sad attempt to find some sort of method to Lucas' last two bombshells.
