They are all custom.

Hex is on a Tarrot X6 frame, quad some junk frame and the flying wing is on a Skywalker X8. Motors and electronics are all custom. The X8 is going to be a bad boy. Pretty soon it will be able to fly 200km or more and carry a six station camera that can scan down to cm from 500 feet.

The electronics can be as simple or complicated as you want them to be. These are for commercial use, so they are on the more complex side. There are some really great GUI programs for programming them or you can do it yourself. Most of the autopilots are arduino based, so the code is very simple. The hardest part is tuning them, but that's just trial and error user preference.

Video is sent via a dedicated receiver/sender. Cellular might work but you can get very decent range with rf and it's less weight. The main camera we will use is too high resolution for that, so we'll have to rely on SD cards.

GPS is a must. That's what the round antenna is. They will return to the launch spot if they lose radio signal or the battery goes low and will land wherever they are if SHTF. The autopilot does all of that very easily. It also levels out flight and will be huge when we are doing 30,000 acre fields. Just program the route, launch it and let it do its thing.

And yes we applied for an FAA waiver. We already run an airline and an airport, so we have a couple connections with the FAA.

Bush didn't consult so much as ordered his legal advisors to come up with some warped legal justification for torturing people. Just because the executive legal team comes up with some bullshit to justify a policy doesnt mean it is truely legal or just. Obama afterall had his legal team draft up legal justification for killing US citizens abroad. Clearly doesnt make it right nor legal.

I've got a DJI Phantom 1 quad and a GoPro Hero3+. I'm trying to decide if I want to go FPV with it.

If I do I'll add:

• 3Axis Gimbal with Pitch Control
• Immersion 600mw 5.8GHz TX
• Telemetry Module
• Clover Leaf antenna.
• LCD and receiver

Of course with the added weight and power draw I'll need to go up to 9inch props from 8. I'm mostly limited by battery power. Stock is a 3S 2200mAH and 10-15 minutes of flight. I can mod the battery compartment for a 4000mAH battery if I have too.

I kind of think it is, especially if there's no other way to intervene, and the police take the threat seriously. That seems to be nearly the exact case for those drone attacks - a serious threat of death to other citizens with no other reasonable intervention. I'm certainly not going to lose sleep over this. We have a 3 axis on the hex, its a pain in the ass. From here on out its 2 axis only. Less weight and easier to handle. Tuning the gimbal took longer than tuning the hex.

And the power management is my big PITA. Nothing can handle 50V, so I'm stuck trying to figure out how to do that but still get flight time up. We also have 6 monster 6S 22V batteries. I'm liking that option better. Wire them up, throw in a UBEC and call it good. Of course the cameras will run on a smaller battery.

I still can't decide on a good mounting solution for the interior of the X8. I need to make something stable but also light. I tried custom forming Kydex but its not sturdy enough. Wood will work but that will be even more weight and nothing is square, so I'd have to buy a jigsaw, belt sander and God knows what other tools. I think I'm going to take a trip down to the hobby store and see if I can get some inspiration.

But you will note the Pentagon wont cut back on its pollution. The military is probably the biggest contributor of greenhouse gases as an organization in the world. I honestly cant think of any other organization that would come close.

Jeb is right on the first part, but not the 2nd.

The science is clear that things are changing, and that man is a big factor. It has not figured out if man is the primary, but that is very different than saying its undecided on the fact that things are changing for the worse.

Settled can mean very different things. Its not "settled" in that it knows 100% every factor of climate change. It is "settled" in that science can settle things. We don't everything there is to know in the field of chemistry, but we don't say chemistry is not "settled". Inherently in science, there is an understanding that there could be more to learn about any subject. There is also an understanding that you do not need to know every detail about something to make use of the knowledge we do have about a subject.
