What is it with Jay and the hosts of Late Night? First he got Dave angry, now Conan. Look out Fallon!!!

In real life, Leno is apparently the exact opposite of the "nice guy" he plays on TV if his reputation in the auto world is any indication. This is kind of funny because the only place I've ever found him palatable is when he's tooling around his garage talking about cars.

Leno should leave, but he's a jack*ss and is only interested in getting what he wants no matter the consequences. He looks and sounds fake.

The only reason I'd sometimes watch TTS while he was hosting was because of the guests. Take the guests away, and his ratings are lower than the shamwow guy, even at 10pm instead of 11:35pm.

I hope Conan goes to another network for a few years and eventually replaces Dave Letterman.

First Conan O'Brien Leaves, Now Jay Leno?

Sources close to former 'Tonight Show' host Jay Leno tell me he is furious with the way NBC has treated him and Conan O'Brien and is considering walking away from the entire mess with his head held high. "Now that Conan has made it clear he is leaving the troubled network, Jay is considering doing the same. They have put Jay in a terrible position. It looks like he is the reason that Conan is now without a job. Jay is a great guy and it's not fair that due to NBC's stupidity he looks like the bad guy," a TV insider tells me.

"Plus, what happens when Jay does return to the 11:35 slot if his audience doesn't immediately follow? How can he possibly trust the same network that canceled Conan after only seven months?"

From the sounds of it, Leno's a bit of a doucherocket. Of course he'll feign outrage. I'll be surprised if he actually does bail on NBC.

This whole thing never made any sense from the moment NBC made a deal with Conan to push Leno off The Tonight Show within a set period of time. Like him or hate him Leno was a ratings winner in the time slot year after year much like Carson before him. The difference here is that they stayed with Carson until he was ready to leave and the only real screw up was the way they handled the replacement. What they did here was push Leno out when he was still a ratings winner and not ready to leave and mollify him with some experimental deal in the 10-11 slot to keep him from leaving the network entirely.

The whole deal was really unfair to both men from the outset and they have only made it worse by this attempt to try and keep both men. I suspect they would have been better off to have let Leno leave after this failed experiment even though Conan is not bringing in the ratings they expected for The Tonight Show. Now in their best case scenario they only lose Conan who goes on elsewhere to compete against them while bringing Leno back to The Tonight Show where he will face an uphill battle to get anywhere close to his former ratings success.

Why is everyone putting this on Leno? It's entirely NBC's fault. The transition from Leno to O'Brien was supposed to be smooth but NBC got greedy and O'Brien flopped in his time slot. Now NBC wants to retain someone that was #1 at the 11:35PM time slot. Can you blame them? Yes and no. This is showbusiness, you're either good or you're out. No hard feelings.

So people on here actually have their panties in a bunch because NBC want to save a time slot? Sorry, but Conan sucks and his numbers suck. You want NBC to go down with Conan simply because they promised him something? Bringing Leno back to 11:35 is the only hope they have. They shouldn't have ever gave Conan the time slot, and when they did they shouldn't have stuck with him this long. Conan is a sinking ship, and it's not like NBC is doing so well they can stand behind him and weather the storm. Every job I've had, if I did a shitty job I got canned and they would bring somebody better to fill my shoes.

Leno is their only hope and if Conan is mad at Leno for being way more popular, then he needs to try to learn to be funny and not awkward like Napoleon Dynomite or Micheal Cera. Actually I'd probably rather watch the Tonight Show with Micheal Cera as the host.

The Jimmy Fallon Show, followed by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, followed by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, weeknights starting at 10:00PM EST/9:00PM CST on NBC.

I hear the ratings for Heroes have been dropping off too, I think they should totally cancel 30 rock & The Office and put Heroes in their timeslot since Heroes used to get great ratings and all.

Not going to happen. Jay is trying to save his image. Right now it looks like Jay wanted his old time slot back and is doing whatever is needed to get it. no matter if that is right or wrong he looks bad.

i think the whole situation is kinda funny. i kinda want Jay to quite also. then there will be the argument he is takeing Conans slot at fox! hehe

What a clusterfuck NBC has gotten themselves into. o_O

The kicker is that they knew their ratings for Leno at 10pm were going to take a major hit. They just figured that the lower costs of the show would more than make up for lost revenues.

But what... they didn't figure this would ripple through the rest of their late night programming? Leno's poor ratings screws the affiliates' news broadcasts right after and then gives worse lead-ins for Conan.

Man you people saying how Conan has been sucking ass in the time slot need to get your head out of your asses. Let's see how Jay would've done with Carson at 10 pm and him with the tonight show at 11:30 when he took over. NBC tried something and it failed horribly.

We live now in a world where we need instant gratification. In today's environment even Leno would've been given the boot after how badly he started after Carson. I just hope NBC loses big because nobody deserves to get treated how Conan has been through all this.

And I've heard NBC will do anything to get ratings back at 11:35, Jay himself said he would leave NBC, not "I want my slot back daamit!" if anyone here wants Conan out and Jay back it's the head honchos at NBC.

Yeah, NBC is just fucking nuts...

Leno is sucking at 10:00 pm. This in turn means that the news channels ratings have been shot all to hell (which is why they've been complaining for months), hence Conan is getting the shaft in the ratings as well.

It's all a domino effect. I don't think it's all Conan's fault.

Screw Heroes. That show has been circling the toilet since Season 2.

Conan won't be out on the street. He still has 4 years + left on his multi million dollar contract. He'll get paid one way or another.

Neither of them are all that funny.

hahah i want to see leno retire, conan bail to fox, jimmy fallon with a 3 hour block

result -> conan does what he wants, nbc in shambles, letterman/kimmel/ferguson laughing their asses off

unfortunately GE takes a hit and one of the most evil corporations, Comcast gets a better deal for NBC
