NBC should just let Leno retire. IMHO, he's been given too much perks/breaks, his show is not even worth watching anymore. Pretty much the same old boring jokes/monologues/features. They should also fire those people who decided to put him in another show and time slot. Looks like Leno has more "connections" with the higher ups in NBC than Conan.

When David Letterman eventually retires, I wonder who is taking over. Maybe Conan O'Brien should move to CBS. NBC screwed Letterman by choosing Leno for the Tonight Show hosting spot after J.Carson retired.
Now they are doing the something similar to Conan.

Who ever is running NBC is a dumb fuck. What are they going to do for the 10:00pm slot now? I'm not holding my breath that they will find any good shows at that time slot. They will need 5 more shows for the week.

Check this out NBC is going to lose couple a couple hundred million bucks on the winter olympics eh

What they should do is get Howard Stern but no one has the balls to do it. He always talked about how he would kill all these guys.

howard stern? no way would that EVER happen.

The split show is a terrible idea. And while Carson was great at the Tonight Show, he sure didn't get involved with the Dave vs Jay fight that ensued after his retirement, so I seriously doubt he'd get involved here either.

Not a split show, they wouldn't be co-hosting. Jay would get a somewhat later time slot, and Conan would keep the Tonight Show. I should have been more clear. Jay could help himself if he'd go back to doing a stand-up show (which is what made him popular, he was apparently quite good doing stand-up on The Tonight Show). As it is, he's already supposed to be getting a shorter show, so let him have it, just not at the time slot they're saying, which is when the Tonight Show would be on.

I thought Johnny said something about the Tonight Show back when it was announced that Conan would take over. I can't find anything with a quick Google search though. Didn't Carson recommend Letterman to secede him, which is why there was such a big deal that he didn't get the Tonight Show.

Wow, that's the classiest "fuck you" I've ever seen. Bravo Conan, Bravo!

I didn't really see a "fuck you!" He said nothing about leaving; in fact, he indicates the possibility of resolving the issues with NBC.

Stern's a relic from back when saying naughty words on the radio was considered edgy. Props for being a self made fellow, but his act is old and he's not as gifted as say O'brien

Yep. Howard Stern is garbage. Not sure how or when it happened, but whoever tried to redefine "trash" as "edgy" in order to make Stern popular was/is full of shit.

Yeah, I think he's trying to not be a dick about it and appeal to them. Its clear he really cares about the show, and that his issue is they're basically shitting all over it, and not him (as he points out, he has nothing to complain about himself, he's definitely well enough off financially and he'll be fine regardless of what happens).

Unless Leno falls on his sword and gives up his nightly show, it's pretty clear there is no chance of resolution here.

Conan's response is indicative of true class in the face of unfathomable dickery by NBC. I remember when NBC was head and shoulders above every other network combined... I guess karma's a bitch. Conan needs to flee that sinking ship. Even if NBC flip-flopped again and cut Jay loose, leaving Conan alone with the Tonight Show, the fact that they would pose this option in the first place would make it impossible for Conan to feel that he wasn't replaceable on a whim by the higher-ups, and that's no good for job security. Letterman is about due for retirement; he's given us some great years, but his time is up. Conan should take over that slot. And then let's see how Jay stacks up head to head when NBC still can't post a lead-in in the 10:00pm slot. Bunch of slack-jawed troglodytes running that network...

Read this quote from his monologue on monday and thought it was hilarious:

http://www.seattlepi.com/tvguide/414136_tvgif12.html

"Everybody wants to know what my plans are," O'Brien said. "Everyone's asking me. All I can say is I plan to keep putting on a great show night after night while stealing as many office supplies as humanly possible. I'm going to rob this place blind. I got 10 cartridges of toner shoved in my pants right now — just jammed down there."

Wish I had the time to watch Conan but I'm usually asleep before 12

If Conan does leave, I hope he brings back Triumph the Insult Comic dog for one last night and roast the hell out of NBC and Leno.

I think it's funny that when the whole Tonight Show controversy started about a year ago, many thought NBC couldn't lose with Leno at 10 or at least it was a good experiment.

It's time to put Leno to pasture.

Why would you want to host something on your network that is going to LOSE money when you're the last place network?

NBC is full of fail.

Here's the latest:

Jay Leno will get his one-hour show back, and it will be called "The Tonight Show".... sources tell TMZ.

We're told NBC honchos still have to sit down with Jay's rep and put the finishing touches on a new deal, but NBC has signed off on the plan if Conan O'Brien leaves ... and Conan has made it clear that he's leaving the network, and not on good terms.

O'Brien took several cheap shots at Leno in his blistering letter, denigrating Leno's show as a "comedy program."

Sources tell TMZ Jay and Conan have not spoken with each other since NBC announced the switch.

It's looking increasingly like Conan may be making a deal with Fox for a late night show from 11:00 PM to midnight.
