Man been on what 2 hours and have already made enemies with all the English teachers and females. This site doesn?t seem to take too kindly to newbies.
 
My sister got caught doing 60 in a 30 (in a residential area), and all she got was 6 hrs of GD traffic school. This city is a cesspool of debauchery.

What were the road and traffic conditions at the time he was ticketed? What circumstances prompted your friend to feel they needed an attorney to represent them for a speeding ticket?

Yes, that is excessive.

Judges should all be required to spend a year in jail before they take their seat, in order to understand exactly what they are sending people into.
 
Hell on the road I take to work each day I see people going 45-50 with a posted limit of 30 MPH. Gotta pay to play though.

Sunny and Clear I wasn't with him but saw the ticket. He took some other friends advice and got a Lawyer. Don?t think she helped much.

That depends on the circumstances. I am waiting to hear from the OP what the road & traffic conditions were. If his buddie brought in an attorney and did some 'look at what a good boy i am' preparation for the judge, then I suspect there is more to this sotry than what is being told.

Was he weaving in & out of traffic?

Edit: And did he have any other passengers, particularly a minor, in the car with him at that time?
 
If you are familiar with I95 near DC you know if you are doing 75 you?re not passing anyone. However, I wasn?t in the car and can?t verify that but from my experience he is a pretty mellow go with the flow driver. He had his girlfriend in the car she is 20.

I thought perhaps there was a reason for the judge being such a harda$$ but it doesn't sound like it.
 
1. his lawyer is an idiot unless otherwise explained.
2. There HAS to be more to this story. I was in court for wreckless (2nd offense) and i got speeding + fine. Mind you, I was going with traffic until the last minute when I was chnging lanes on 495 near 267.
3. 20mph over is automatically reckless in VA. True.
4. It is true that traffic is fast as hell around here. on 66 70mph is illegal and yet normal😕

In D.C., just yesterday, I saw a cop (DC not SS or other) watch a guy go through a stop sign without even slowing down and he didn't budge😕 There was a lot of pedestrain traffic too😕


Either way, I still find it VERY hard to go the speed limit. Traffic on 66 and 495 is always so close to 80mph that it would be suicide to go slower than traffic😕 They absolutely rape you if you get caught, but what thye don't acknowledge is that it would be dangerous not to go at those speeds...
