Is it still crazy to scan 1000 magazines?

I had to finally post in this thread to salute Aquaman on his amazing project. The word "epic" has become trivialized but it truly fits this effort.

And FWIW there is no copyright violation involved when scanning printed material you own for your own use. It's no different from making a backup copy of a music CD you bought. That's allowed.

works faster if you cut the pages out and put them
in a document feeder, on a scanner. of course,
then you end up with pages 1, 3, 5 etc. on one
scan, and pages 2, 4, 6 on the next scan.

but, if you're using PDF's, you can always use a
program like Nitro-PDF to re-assemble the documents
when they're digitized.

Well the scanner finally kicked the bucket.

Doh, that sucks. If the magazines are still coming in, go get a new scanner. I'm sure someone in Hot Deals can find you a good one. heh heh.
