Is it still crazy to scan 1000 magazines?

I have actually been doing 100 scans a day but that will slow down oncee tax season starts 🙂

If you werent planning on giving them away, I would say get an automatic duplex scanner. Doing anything over 50 documents by hand is a pain in the ass.

PaperPort 9 will do duplex scanning from any ADF, but you have to flip the stack yourself. 🙂
 
Are these magazines about setting up and maintaining aquariums?

Is there really that much info on aquariums? WOW.

I have over 15 years of magazines collected. That is around 500+ mags from 4 different magazines.

If this really isn't a joke, why not pay someone else to scan them? People with OCD actuially love jobs like this, and I'm sure you can find someone who'll do it for near min wage.

EDIT : I'm sure you know other people in the hobby, or other forums. Why not just break it into stacks about 10 mags each, send them to people /w return packaging to scan, and everyone gets a copy of all the PDF's after? There are so many better ways to do this then 250 hours at a scanner.

I have the time to do it and at the same time I am creating an Access DB of the articles 🙂

If you have lots of free time, then hey, go for it. But I voted Yes.

Maybe if you were watching a movie and could just swap the pages as you were doing something else it woudln't be too bad, but if just sitting there scanning over and over.. Man. I'd just go get a big rubbermaid (or some other non paper/cardboard) container and store them somewhere.
