oh noes its not a fashion statement 🙄

I'm not talking about its physical apperance. I'm talking about the OS and the browser.

She's rather have an iPhone, but Verizon > AT&T. My employer will only reimburse if I use AT&T, so I use AT&T.

RIM is still trying to compete with the iPhone and Android devices, and so far they haven't come up with anything worthwhile.

Get back to me when RIM designs a phone that doesn't suck.

My wife has a Blackberry. It looks like something from 2005.

Yea no kidding, that guy was posting that as if iphone users were going to throw their phones to the floor and get a rim device lol

give me a break

?? The Blackberry is pretty much the phone of choice for business users and enterprise customers. That's what RIM's target audience is and they've done tremendously well at it.

Blackberry does e-mail exceptionally well (when their servers aren't down). But touchscreen phone design has indeed jumped light years ahead in just about one calendar year. We all know Storm was a debacle, and by now Curve indeed looks like something out of 2005, when just about a year ago it was still fairly competitive with other products on the market.

I found this on engadget of all places, in relation to what the press conference pretty much compares to:

It's more like BP saying "Hey, everyone has leaks. See, here's an Exon leak. Here's a Chevron leak. See? But we want to keep our customers happy, so for everyone that lives in a Gulf Coast state, that has a problem with oil when they go swimming, we'll give them one of these colorful wetsuits FREE. Just pick one up at your local BP gas station when you're filling up!"

lol. What is this foolishness? Apple will continue to dominate, that much is certain. Fools like you just don't understand these simple truths.

lol. Some fool compares a faulty antenna design to an ecological disaster, and you think that makes sense? You are a fool. You define foolishness. Everyone knows this.

I listened to a clip of Jobs speech today. He seemed to be laughing at his customers, playing the clip from a song about how dissatisfied iPhone users could simply return it but probably won't. Very bad form.

Well, they deserve it, especially the ones that parrot apple's pr verbatim. Jobs has no respect for these fools and I can understand why.

Sure the Blackberry devices aren't as "hip" or don't come with all the bells and whistles that other devices come with. But why is it that such a large percentage of business users use Blackberry exclusively? In North America at least, if you work for an employer that gives out phones to their employees, it's almost always a RIM device. There's a reason behind it ... it's damn good at what's it intended to do and what it's marketed for.

It seems anandtech must have all but killed the moderation of these forums since they upgraded to this new layout...A few years ago you would have gotten a warning and/or vacation...

If you don't care, why do you have to respond to everything I say?

It's "3 million sold with a significant design flaw". Enough of a problem for Apple to call an emergency press conference over. The only way Apple can redeem itself in any way is to release an iFix for the iPhone. That means a complete recall of the handsets.

I don't care about the supposed "problems" apple haters are finding. Its hysterical cries about the end of the world..and all the gleeful crying is just a load of envious and bitter sh*t in general.

Is it really significant? the buyers go for the cutting edge, and if that means there are small issues, so be it, its not a deal breaker. Its mostly an issue for those who wouldn't have bought one anyways.

You mean the change of culture period? I'm sorry, that was a short period where the mods got puritanical, and almost snuffed out atot. atot was actually even more free wheeling before that.

No, the mods here just ignore the rules. theflyingpig should have been permabanned years ago if the mods paid any attention to the rules.

So you're saying it's now just full of trolls and people who bash each other?

Its called momentum. You failed to mention why exactly rims got such a lock on business, its been around for a long long time, they were making pager devices back in the day, 1980s/90s. It wasnt until 2007 that apple came out of no where to eat some of rims lunch, and make them look like yesterdays news. So yes, 3 years is a very short time for many large companies to change policies, but you want to bet most are adapting for iphones and the like? If the boss wants to use a smart phone other than rim its going to get done. They just can't ignore it anymore when most of their workers probably want something different.

Rim got its toe in the door back when its on ly competitor was the sh*tty microsoft phones and such. Now their position is far less secure.

The antennae issue isn't going to cost them anything in sales. Everyone who wants an iPhone pretty much already has one or is going to get one. As we all know, Apple fans are willing to put up with things the phone doesn't do.

It's very easy to explain, and it fits into two words: Microsoft Exchange. The majority of corporate uses it, and RIM made it a priority from day 0 to seamlessly integrate email with Exchange. Their software passes most anal certifications, and it does e-mail push extremely well (barring RIM's server farms going down, which seems to happen every now and then).

I used to work for a competitor of RIM about 5 years ago, and we had our own Exchange add-on which could be installed onto corporate servers. We, in fact, did a much better job than Blackberry in pushing e-mail, but we lost in the end, because we did not manufacture devices ourselves, bur rather used Palm Treo.

Apple's phones, on the other hand, are consumer-oriented. Guess who wins in the end? Consumer stuff always wins.

Not true. The mods are more relaxed now than in the early days when I used to lurk.

I watched the iPhone little apple event that Steve Jobs did.

This really does sound like people are over-bitching because Android phones are not as good. >_>

Free bumper, refund for bumper if you bought one, free bumper with all new iPhone 4s, and yay?

Anecdotal, but i know multiple business people (including my dad) in Chicago that have an Iphone and Blackberry both.

The blackberry is more reliable and used for work.

The Iphone is a toy and status symbol. He uses it appropriately.

How is the EVO/Incedible/Droid X/Galaxy worse than the iPhone 4?

They certainly trade blows with the phone, and the EVO is 4G ready out of the box. Apple will sell you another phone for that too when AT&T gets a competent LTE network in 2016 or they jump ship to Verizon.
