I've always felt that the GC would be the dominant console of the three if only they could garner the same third party support that MS and Sony have for their consoles. Hell, if they only had half the support it would still be just as good as those.

Why? Their exlusive titles demolish those published exclusively for PS2 and Xbox. Hell, I still think GC is the second best console behind the Xbox. The PS2 sucks compared to the Xbox and I honestly see no need to ever own both of them. There's no game that has ever come out for Ps2 that I couldn't get for my Xbox or my PC and since my Xbox also works as a media center/emulator I'm set.

Oh, and the load times on the GC are nice too. ;)

*EDIT*

I forgot to mention one other exclusive title that I didn't see noted anywhere else in the thread.

Nintendo is in a funk. Both the GC and N64 have good games. However, they are both lacking in quantity. I think they will soon realize that MS and Sony have a bigger market share mainly due to the number of games. Both the GC and N64 have suffered due to lack of games.

If they haven't realized that Sony/MS have a larger market share than them in the normal console market then they all need to be fired.

i love how you guys get so bent out of shape..

personally i think the franchise games arent all great. mario is boring to me (3d mario anyway), zelda WW was TERRIBLE, what a snore, tedious snore. i hear metroid is great so ill eventually pick that up.

xbox has great graphics and several good games.. same goes with ps2, which has the biggest/best selection, including long lasting rpg games and ps1 backwards compatibility. keeps me busy should i feel the need.

gamecube needs non franchise hits to get the ball rolling but i havent seen it, its a great system, and worth the $80 i paid for it, even if i only play a couple games on it--but to call the other 2 systems crap is a joke.

quality over quantity. I don't need a 500 game library of games i never play. Gamecube also has the best multiplayer/party games. Mario Party, Kart, Monkeyball, fzero gx, FF:CC, smash bros, bomberman. Hopefully I can add zelda: four swords to that list soon.

so no, i dont think its complete piece of garbage

Heh, there's a lot of things that you can bring up as a negative GC element. But, saying that WW was a terrible game kind of damages your credibility. I mean, after all, it's not like almost every gaming publication named it the game of the year across all systems or anything. :p

I wish Nintendo would just suck it up and go the Sega route. Keep the portable market, but leave the living room consoles and stick to making games.

hey, just my opinion--i cant stand the tedious / puzzle aspects of the game. in retrospect i cant stand the same thing in ffx2 (over ffx) for ps2. cept zelda, for me, had LONG in betweens before anything i did that was fun. i like strategy, action, and storyline.. :)

There isn't any game that has ever come out for PS2 that you couldn't get on your XBOX/PC? That doesn't make ANY SENSE at all. Unless you are somehow emulating PS2 games perfectly on your PC. PS2 has a HUGE number of games that you cannot play on any other system. Please don't make me make a list. And the funniest part of that is when you mention games on consoles that you can play elsewhere, Xbox is the freaking king, considering the majority of its decent games were either stolen from the PC market before they were released, released to PC and Xbox, or came out for the Xbox and then got ported to PC. Maybe if it was assbackwards day, your statements would make sense.

Okay, I'm going to call you on that one. Please being your long ass list of QUALITY games that are on the PS2 that I can't get in some other form. Obviously reading is very hard for you since we are talking about quality games here. If I have to choose between playing a game on an Xbox or playing it's counterpart on the Ps2, then by God I'm going with the Xbox. Why? Because the system is a lot more flexible than the Sony. I have thousands of roms just sitting on the hard drive of my Xbox. If I get tired of NCAA Football 2004 that's cool because I can just bust out some 10 Yard Fight or Tecmo Bowl.

Waiting for the list of QUALITY games, that I care about, that are only available on the PS2...

RPG's.

FFX
FFX-2
Xenosaga
La Pucelle
Disgaea
Suikoden 3
.hack 1-4
Unlimited Saga
Shadow Hearts
Kingdom Hearts

just the ones I could think of off the top of my head... plus sequels and follow-up games coming out for most of those within the next month.

Bleh, I guess 'owned' would work here if I liked those types of RPG's these days. :p

There are also some excellent platformers which are PS2 exclusives. Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, and Ratchet and Clank (and sequels) are all highly-rated titles.

Now, I'll give you Ratchet and Clank. That game is fun as hell for a platformer. A game must be good if I'll actually play it and its a genre that I typically dislike.

Three points:
1) Just as soon as the dumbass GC owners realize that there is a cubic assload of games from third parties for the GC that are actually good.
I read on IGN that the GC version of Soul Calibur II actually outsold the Xbox and PS2 versions.

I have a Gamecube and I like it a lot, but I don't have a lot of time to play games so the good titles they do have are more than enough to keep me occupied. They had a good showing at E3 this year, looks like there will be plenty of good games in the future as well.

Are we going to rehash this stupid ass, retarded debate again? Each system has it's strengths and weaknesses - each system appeals to someone - just like a Ford Superduty Crew Cab won't appeal to a 100lb woman living in NY, a Gamecube won't appeal to some people. Just play WTF you have and STFU.

I'm curious how many copies it would have sold if Link wasn't the special character.

GC is the best of the three by far.
Explain...

GC leads the charge in terms of party games, if you're having a group of friends over, the Gamecube has the greatest selection of multiplayer titles that everyone can just pick up and play. It also has the best looking version of Soul Calibur 2, Fzero is the best arcade racing game in the world, and so on...

GC = PS2 > XBox

Yep, when the kids get done partying at Chuck E Cheese, they LOVE coming back and playing the GC. It's a real hoot!

Man, I'll find ANY excuse to buy a console, but the GC is a piece of crap! If I had kids I'd definitely get them one, but I ain't touching it. There are NO games that interest me on it, at all. I'm VERY happy with my XBox and PC. :)

Gamecube is better than PS2 IMO. Nintendo has some killer platformers. I almost feel like buying one just for Mario kart, Tennis, and other party games.

Viewtiful Joe is one of the few platformers that I enjoy.

Much fewer, I'm sure. In general, you're right about GC owners not buying 3rd party games... sports games generally sell poorly on the GC, particularly because of online play and other features offered on the other consoles.
Games like Prince of Persia which don't offer anything special for the Cube tend to sell better on the other consoles AFAIK.

FFX was ok.
FFX-2 was a joke.
I don't know what 4-9 are, but if they're anything like the photo-copied FF RPGs that my friend used to play, I'll pass. Kingdom Hearts sucked.

Would you like to list some good games in contrast to these clearly subpar rpgs for PS2 (the undisputed king of rpgs)? Perhaps you could list some really awesome RPGs that came out for Xbox or GC?

Nintendo makes such great first/second party games that they destroy third party games.
