I just bought a GC to play zelda, mario, ssmb, double dash, and the new zelda. It cost me $50 used which is about the same price as a new ps2 game. So why not?

I thought about buying a GC just for Mario Kart...how I loved that game when it originally came out for the SNES. Good times

anyone have the GBA GameCube adaptor? I've been thinking about getting a GC just for that. There are plenty of GBA games that I play, but the small screen and non-ergonomic controls kill me.

The XBox is just a freaking PC

haha, that arguement is so old now.

I have all three consoles. The XBOX and PS2 are hooked up, and played on a semi-regular basis. The Gamecube sits in a closet.

You must play a lot of single player games and be very lonely

Gamecube has stupid games that 4th graders play when they're having a slumber party.

XBOX has halo, 16 player halo is much more fun than mario kart or any other game you can name thats exclusively for the gamecube.

my big problem with Nintendo is their reliance on franchises... I mean, how long are Mario, Zelda, and Metroid going to account for 95% of their game sales?

You made the right decision in buying a GameCube. Although they release relatively few games compared to the other systems, these games are actually fun to play and have great replay value.

i'd have to say gamecube is worth it overall. i bought it just for pikmin and have enjoyed just about every other game i've purchased (except mgs and pso). i dig the first party franchises for it, and by the time i get around to picking them up they're reduced to $20 so it's worth it. oh, and if you have a gamecube, stop being a woman and pick up ikaruga. mariokart/party are definitely fun games for a party. i can actually get girls to pick up and play these games on a "cute" little purple console. they hate the xbox.

ps2 is an antique. none of its choppy games appeal to me. xbox (now that i have xbconnect running) is fun as hell. halo...what can i say? crimson skies on xbl? funner than all hell. the games aren't particularly unique but they're well refined and infinitely replayable. yummeh.

look, if you want to buy games that are always going to be pushing new ideas and new methods of interactivity then buy a gamecube. if you want games that are just fun and mindless, get an xbox.

GC is the best of the three by far.
Explain...

It's $50 cheaper than the other systems for one.

Most importantly, it comes with all of those awesome Nintendo franchise games:

Zelda
Mario
Metroid
Star Fox
Mario Kart
Earthbound (if they make another one)

The XBox is just a freaking PC, and the PS2 has a wide selection of crappy games. Dollar for dollar, the games I listed above are worth far more than the games for the other two systems.

I couldn't agree more! The GC is the only console I don't wish a horrible death upon. The XBOX and PS2 offer nothing but insulting drivel and games that you can buy for the PC.

That being said,
PC > Any console ever will be

Seriously, I don't understand why anybody complains about a lack of games... There are lots of them, and almost every game available for a console is complete and utter crap, dumbed down for the lowest common consumer. Why do you people encourage this?!? KILL YOUR CONSOLE! (Unless it's a GC. At least if you buy a GC, you're encouraging Nintendo to make more truly awesome games :))

I own both a GameCube & XBox and I have my PC as well. I've thought about getting a PS2 but unless I can trade some stuff for one or get one cheap I'm not going to bother right now. Each system has games for its target market. Really there's good games on both systems . I thoroughly enjoy Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness on my GameCube just like I enjoy Ninja Gaiden and Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow on my Xbox.

Hi there,

You must be 12.

If I was 12, then maybe I would want to play 'gun' games to make myself feel grown up.

 @ the kiddy games crap. I'm 31 and Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, MKDD and all the others own me.

Regards,

Adult Gamer.

It's probably not a good choice of console if you want to buy a new game every month. I'm still getting mileage out of the games that I do have, though, and there are quite a few titles coming later this year (unfortunately, much later this year) which, for me, are launch-day must-owns.

And I got mine when it first came out, but I've enjoyed it enough to justify missing out on the price cuts. My only regret is not being able to get the Zelda bonus disc.

Xbox blows it out of the water.

Quality over Quantity definetly with that system, I'm thinking of picking one up just for Zelda.

My kids love their GC. Their titles go more for quality than quantity. Great wireless controllers too :)

This thread is funny. Because while more games are coming out for Xbox, there are VERY FEW noteworthy titles. Infact they are so few, that people still bring up Halo like it is the second coming of Jesus.

Heres Xbox: Halo, Ninja Gaiden, Mech Assault, Kotor .... sports games (2 of these are now on PC)
Heres GC: Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Zelda WW, Mario Sunshine, Viewtiful Joe, F-Zero GX, Super Smash Brothers Melee, Mario Kart DD ... sports games

Infact, the Xbox has so few decent games that here is the ebgames top rated:
Halo 9.7
GTA Double Pack 9.6
Ninja Gaiden 9.4
ESPN NFL Football 9.3
Pro Skater 4 9.3
Max Payne 9.2
Madden NFL 2004 9.1
NFL 2K3 9.1
Top Spin 9.1

All sports games, a pc re-release (max payne), halo, and a ps2 re-release (gta)....

To the original poster: If you have only bought SSX3 for your GC then I wonder exactly why you even bought it in the first place. I own SSX3 also, but I wouldn't even consider it that noteworthy of a game. It is more of a time waster.

Three points:
1) Just as soon as the dumbass GC owners realize that there is a cubic assload of games from third parties for the GC that are actually good.

2) The issue with the GC is not the selection of games, as they are already more games for the GC than there were TOTAL for the N64 in its entire lifetime. The problem lies with the GC fans that insist on closing their eyes to other great games available for their system. Third parties see crappy sales and start migrating their development to other platforms... and the cycle continues.

How many GC owners do you know own and play Viewtiful Joe or Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes? Both awesome games that didn't sell all that great. EA, UbiSoft, and more recently Capcom have done a great job releasing games for the GC.

3) Each of the consoles have good exclusive content. As soon as the fanboys realize the majority of their "third party" content is available for other consoles, the retarded e-penis battle in this thread can end. You say your GC lacks new video games? Perhaps that might be true, but what about the hundreds of other games that were already released you likely don't own?

You make it sound like you actually have to wade through an unsorted pile of 1000 ps2 games. Anyone who owns a PS2 can or should be able to find out relatively quickly what must-own titles are out there. Worst case scenario: you post a thread and ask other PS2 owners which ones are must-own titles and then simply go buy them.

I will agree to a degree in that every once in awhile I end up buying a PS2 game which I really should have rented in the first place. But I think that happens with every console.
