Is it illegal to have sex in a car?

can a cop write you a ticket or detain you if a man a woman both over 18 are having sex in the car? Assuming you park on a street with very few or no people around.

EDIT: Let say the car has very dark tint and like I said the street is dark and is not a residential area. Is it still indecent exposure even though the officer (hopefully) sees that you didn't mean other people to see you?

probably for indecent exposure, but not for "having sex in a car". You can have sex in a car on your own private property where people can't walk up and look in the windows as much as you want.

yeah, I can't believe people are saying it should be fine - you'll get busted in a second if a cop sees you (and doesn't have better things to do)

True Story:

I actually got a ticket for this once. But I think it was b/c we were in a public park that was closed (it was after dark)...it was right on the Potomac next to Reagan Nat'l Airport.

I made him pay for both tickets.

Another true story:

It was in the parking lot at Newport Beach Pier (for you guys in SoCal). It was two bicycle cops (around 10:00 pm), and I din't notice them until.... after. They were just about 5 feet from the rear of my car, no tickets

I never said I forced him - sheesh!

He DID offer - I was merely speculating as to WHY he offered. He just took both tickets from the cop and told me he'd take care of it. He was some bigtime lawyer in D.C. anyway...I have no idea if he even paid them or just "took care of them".

Like others said. It's not really any different than getting caught peeing on a side of a highway.

I just would not recommend you doing it while driving. I would love to see that on fox 5 one day, but for the safety of the other drivers on the road
