Agreed. Illegality should have a logical reason. It is illegal to run a red light because you endanger perpendicular traffic and can kill someone. It is illegal to kidnap because you are depriving someone of their liberty. Pot is illegal because ... ?

Its illegal because the President hasn't sent a letter to the appropriate Federal Agencies telling them that enforcing this particular law is a low priority and no budget funds will be approved for it.

Take away the Federal Money and all of the Federal Agencies will avoid enforcement. Of course, you still have State and Local Agencies to deal with... But since the Feds supply the majority of the money, the other agencies will also loose interest after time...

Home brewing is legal, but I think distilling is illegal in most states. I think the main reason is that the laws are antiquated and there's not a big interest from the public in doing it anyway.

The problem with self enforcing laws is that everyone has a different standard.
A meth head doesn't understand why it's illegal to smoke meth.
It is illegal because they are meth heads and end up putting the public at risk from theft, vehicle accidents and face eating.

The same logic is used for marijuana. (although most agree that marijuana is not harmful to the general public)

On the theory that if you grow your own pot, you can harm the (nevermind it's illegal) interstate commerce by not buying pot grown out of state and imported.

These right-wing judges just make crap up to fit their politics and rape the constitution.

This is the same group who stuck down a state law to match campaign financing by a wealthy candidate by giving the same amount of tax funds to his opponent on the grounds that it was a violation of free speech because it would discourage wealthy candidates from using their money for advantage when their opponent gets a match.

Let the marijuana laws be like what we have now.I mean its not that difficult to get it,so why make it legal?I dont want to smoke that shit for all my lifetime,but only when i want to get wasted.
ive grown it just for fun,got some seeds and put them in cotton cloth soaked in water and placed them in near good sunlight,and theyve grown upto 6-7 cms in weeks.but i couldnt wait to smoke them,so the next day,i rolled it in to a joint(didnt dry them..lol)it was not good as the ones that we buy from streets,but the satifaction...

It wont make you an addict like alcohol does,im no longer using it.

Well, to expand on that, in Denver possession up to an ounce is "decriminalized" for adults 21+. However, the stricter state laws still allow enforcement, so the 2005 and 2007 measures were more symbolic than anything.

Gawd I hope Amendment 64 passes. At least it's a step in getting the state out of the way and taking on the feds.

yup, fed laws. some states try to lessen the law, but since fed law trumps state law, we're all pretty much screwed. Interesting about the aussie plumbing stills. You can get all the parts here, except for a full blown still, but you need to be able to put it all together to make a still.

We made alcohol in HS in our chemistry class even though it was technically illegal. it was a cool learning experience with creating the mash and then using burners, various glassware, and a condenser to get the final product.

I've always wanted to try my hand at it again.
