Is it illegal to grow marijuana for personal use? If so, why?

I know someone that got a pound of hash confiscated and the next day he walked into the police station and demanded his medicine back. They handed it to him and he just took his bag of hash and walked out the front door. At that point I realized it is essentially legal in CA. The only reason it hasn't been completely legalized is that growers lobbied hard against people voting yes on the most recent bill that came up to legalize it. They are afraid Phillip Morris or a similar corporation will move in and take over and regulate the industry. This would effectively end hundreds of thousands of people's tax free livelihoods.

and phillip morris is likely spending money to lobby for the legalization. now that tobacco sales are going nowhere but down, they want something else to grow. and they think its going to be legal someday- or else they wouldnt have bought a shit ton of land in northern cali.

Personally I don't smoke marijuana as it no longer has any affect on me for whatever reason, however; even if it did my job subjects me to drug tests so even if I still enjoyed it I wouldn't.

I think is should be made legal, however the government doing this would just be a huge money grab even if privatized.

thats where i different from most. i dont care how poor i have to live, im not going to give up something i believe in just because some law says im a loser for doing it.

i know its costed me tens of thousands of dollars already, i just dont care. i want to be part of the statistics. if everyone plays along with what the law says then the law will never change.

Let the marijuana laws be like what we have now.I mean its not that difficult to get it,so why make it legal?I dont want to smoke that shit for all my lifetime,but only when i want to get wasted.
ive grown it just for fun,got some seeds and put them in cotton cloth soaked in water and placed them in near good sunlight,and theyve grown upto 6-7 cms in weeks.but i couldnt wait to smoke them,so the next day,i rolled it in to a joint(didnt dry them..lol)it was not good as the ones that we buy from streets,but the satifaction...

It wont make you an addict like alcohol does,im no longer using it.

If our ancestors wouldnt have found this great plant we shouldnt be smoking it.there are thousands of plants which when smoked will give you nothing.I didnt had any weed left when i smoked the wet seedlings,also i was curious.it tasted absolutely shit,more shittier than the dried/processed ones,and now that i know that its(the wet seedlings) shit i wont smoke that for a second time.Now that you know its not good to smoke the wet seedlings,you can avoid smoking it or you may smoke it to know how shittier it turns out to be ..haha..
