The door holding thing is minor. The main thing I think Americans have against Asians is how Asians chew with their mouth open. In Asian culture it's proper to slurp noodles, chew with your mouth open, and eat a lot, all to complement the cook on his/her delicious cookings. In Western cultures all those are impolite.

In Asia it is polite to hold door as here in America, however that trend may have changed due to over crowded population & large cities (people fight to get on train/bus).
