I like having a day where I can do whatever I want.

That day is every day. At least for me.

I never really cared much about birthdays. I don't like being the center of attention. Then there's the gifts - UGH! People ask me what I want and I don't really want anything, yet they insist on giving me a present so I usually have to come up with something. I dunno. Fuck me.

I think birthday is special to young kids and old folks. I don't care about birthdays now but I cared when I was a kid. I'm sure I'll care again when I'm old and about to die.

I don't care about it at all, most people that know me know that and do the one thing I ask, leave me alone and let me spend the day as I wish. Which is usually playing video games the entire day uninterrupted 😀

i do everything i want, birthday is not a big deal but i always remember that day even the time i go out lol

I'm indifferent, and I don't like being the center of attention. Birthdays quit being special around hitting double digit age.
As a young child, one who knew very well that you do not say "shut up" to an adult, I was confined to a high chair, while a group of relatives sang "Happy Birthday" to me. I, who did not like lots of people or loud noise, completely lost it, and screamed those forbidden words at all of them....and they laughed a bit and continued on, unimpeded.

I do handle it a bit better these days.
Though I'm still not big on attention like that. Or loud noise. Or groups of people.

But other than that!....

Don't really care for my own, but I do for good friends.

The poll results are not surprising. Tech forum -> more introverted people -> people who dislike self-promotion

Hi, Jeff. Want some cake?

I don't for my own, but family always makes a big deal about. Where to eat out, what do I want for a gift, what my plans are .... etc. I tell them I'll stay at home and can just bring me the food and gifts. :awe:

Assk for Jamaican coffee.

A big deal to me? Not really. We always do at least dinner on the day and something with friends around that time but its not a huge party.

I do make sure I am always at a friend birthday celebration if even remotely possible.

When I was a kid it was super exciting, because it meant I was getting older.

Now it's meh, and even kinda depressing, because I'm getting older.

I almost forgot, mine is coming up on the 13th. I usually like to maybe go to the restaurant with family or something, but I don't want a big party or anything like that.

I love my birthday! Even better now I'm in my 40s.

Ditch work. Go mtn biking all day. Dirigimrs makes my favorite cake.

Yay!

I skipped 40...I went from 39 to...39 again...to 41

It used to be special in an exciting way, now it's turning toward a more depressing kind of special.
29 for the 20th time......I'm with you there.

Goddamnit - someone left the door to the retirement home open again. Someone help me get them all back inside before BoomerD runs his Rascal scooter into traffic again

I prefer low-key celebrations to the stereotypical party and gifts. But even simple recognition doesn't happen that much, even with friends I've had for years.
