I think the only thing keeping he hanging around here all the time is that I've already subscribed so the speed is fast, and I've been here forever and have lotsa posts.

but I really only hang out in OT, I find Arstechnica's forums vastly better for actual questions.. There are a lot of computer newbies here (and plenty of experts) but it seems like Ars is full of pro's who are more than happy to help and are always faster at helping me with linux or networking questions. as for hardware questions, Anandtech may have the upper hand. but I dont ask hardware questions. they are friendlier, you can cuss and post pictures within threads, they are more laid back, its just a better atmosphere.

people talk like anandtech is forcing you to pay for a service. you pay for what you want, simple as that. do you ever go to a fancy restaurant and complain the the manager because their food isnt as cheap as mcdonalds? if you are happy with mcdonalds, thats great. if not, become an anandtech subscriber.

Well the speed issue is really annoying on my 550 mhz but on my 1800+ its not too bad.....just hit refresh like 5 times and the pages load up fairly fast.

Also, I understand that $30 a year is mothin if you happen to be someone who logs on every day, but a lot of us only use the forums when we need to. Similarly i use a number of oter forums for paintball, geocaching, cars, books, dvds, music, electronics, etc, etc. Now if every forum started asking me for $30 a year, my lil hobbies could end up costin me a few hunderd dollars a year for my 100 or so posta a year.

If u ask me, a cpl of bux per post on an online forum is a lil ridiculous.

OH, AND, if AT was offering me a great added service for $30 a year, i might be interested, but BLACKMAILING me with crappy servers only makes me more adament on NEVER EVER EVER subscribing................unless they decided to make the forums subscriber only, which would blow, but i couldnt possibly do anything with comps w/o AT. MMMM, mebbe the 30 bux is worth it......uh.....oh.......now im confused....................mebbe im just sleepy.............damn that herb............

the forums servers dont upgrade themselves. oh, and in case you dont understand the policy, subscription is OPTIONAL

obviously everyone reading this is ok with the forums, so what are we debating?

I never surf during peak hours anymore. What time is it now? 2:50am? pretty smooth to me.

Of the 14 cars Ive owned, one was as Porsche. Nice ride. Lots of compliments. Most German cars develop electrical problems eventually - be they fuses, relays (which cost several hundred dollars to replace :|), etc. The BMW probably just shorted out. :D

The last couple of weeks I haven't really posted at all, partly due to the speed issues, partly due to the lack of interest I've been feeling lately.

I have no intention of subscribing, if I need technical support or advice there are a hundred and one free resources at my finger tips, I certainly wouldn't pay for just one.
