Good god these dumb responses get old. No one gives a damn if you have subscribed or not. Its pretty damn obvious that he was asking the people who ARENT SUBSCRIBERS.

I cant really justify paying for forums...I do realize it costs money to keep them rollin, but there are lots of other ones out there for free...such as Rallispec Forums, Off Topic forums, and Drunken Forums to keep me occupied should these get too agravating.
>>

what's really "dumb" is that this question keeps coming up again and again and again, this issue is addressed over in forum issues and perhaps all who post this question should be directed there.

If you have such a f---ing problem with these "dumb responses" why do you even bother to enter these threads? Oh wait it is so you can advertise those wonderful forums Rallispec has.

Im sure there are many forums that you can find free that are faster. Of course you dont need a whale of a lot of speed to read both threads that were posted today... or to keep track of its many one time visitors.

I dont know about that, at this time of night it seems about 600 average is a good number on a work night. That figure of registered users just keeps skyrocketing too. Maybe its just that since WTC, a lot of people have re-priortized thier lives, and dont spend so much time on the puter anymore. Just a thought.

I havent subscribed and the forums have definately become more "buggy" and slower for us non-subscribers. But I dont really post here enough to justify subscriber access. Of course I hardly ever post unless I have an opinion. Hence my 2 post per day avg... But back on topic, the only reason you would need to subdcribe is if you thread crap and have over 3k posts...

okay, first off... i've never seen spliffstar on my forums so no, he's not advertising for me. And it was people like him that motivated me to start up my own forums in the first place.. some other place made up of mostly AT'ers to go and post and have fun- without having to worry about speeds.

obviously people have a legitiment problem if these threads continually pop up, and not everyone can justify 30 dollars a year for an online forum. Dont get me wrong, i love AT and i paid my dues and will continue to post here and enjoy my time here.

<<yup.. but for those who abandon.. there is a new ship at the dock taking passengers. (more like a big speed boat )>>

Ofcouse its a speedboat, because you only have 140 registered members. I bet ATOT would be lightning fast, if it had 140 members. I doubt your forums can't handle anything larger than 1000members, it would be slower than a snail. :)

Yeah the legitiment problem is not knowing how to do a search.

i'd really be curious to find out what kind of line AT is hooked up to. I know my site is hosted of an OC48, which seems like it should be fast enough for any amount of users i get. then again-- you're right... i only average 10 or so users on at a time.. 26 is the most on at once so my forums havent been tested to the extremes. Kinda makes it nicer in my opinion... its a fun little community. :)

Well if you want to speed your forums up get the database server on its own server and have the webserver pull from the database server. I dont know why but AT is not the largest community on the internet and with 3 dedicated servers its awfuly slow.... but that is the software more than anything... AT doesnt even allow pics in the foums which really kills forum speed so its not that...

Have tabbed browsing so the speed really isn't a problem. I need this place to kill time at work to much to leave :).

Maybe the Off Topic section could be eliminated to free up some bandwidth? :p

That would eliminate 99% of the members here too.

They did that over at Sharkyforums a while ago. Yes, a whole lot of their members left.

EDIT: Including me.
