This has turned into a interesting converstation. I had no idea a belly ring is a gateway piercing to nipple rings, dressing like a slut and being a whore. I guess i should back up and actually say that getting her ears pierced at 10 was the real gateway to damnation.
Get over yourself mate.
You obviously have no problem with it, so get her the ring, put her on birth control, and get her out there.
Some of us don't agree with you allowing your daughter to 'sex herself up' when she's just turning 13, but ignore us, we're old fashioned & boring
& if you can't see the difference between an ear piercing & a belly-button ring (one which basically all women in society have, and which looks classy & pretty, and the other which has become synonomous with trashy chicks, alongside those lower back tats) then good luck with ya...at least she doesn't want a tattoo, but it sounds like you'd be fine with that too...
Someone thinks highly of themselves.
How so?
I'm just offering my point of view...which the vast majority of ATOT, an i'd be prepared to say, real life, would agree with...
But as i said, i'm a boring old fart who prefers my kids unfvcked & unpierced at age 13...

So if a belly ring is 'sexual', why is letting your daughter have that is sexual a problem? I don't see the problem with having one, what you should be worried more about is not your daughter being eye candy to guys and playing the game 'keep away', but for her to not to become a slut/whore. The question is, what do you define as a slut/whore?
You don't make any sense. But I'll reply to this nonsense any way.
When girls are seeking attention of that kind (sexual) at this age (13) then it leads down the road to what your saying is the real problem. Being overly sexually active. And by overly, I would say any sex before 18 is too much. But that is sort of a guy/daughter thing, nobody wants their daughter to be active until they're out of the house, and even then it brings chills. Men don't envision a son with the same cringing attitude, thats just the way things are.
I've noticed that guys won't understand this unless a) they have a sister, mainly a younger sister that they grew up protecting from things. Or until b) they have a daughter of their own. I have friends that say "I wouldn't mind that my daughter had a bf and dated at 15" but these friends are those that don't have a sister, or that (obviously) don't have a daughter.

THAT is an all time classic quote. Has to be one of the dumbest more ignorant things I've ever seen posted on AT... and that is bold statement.

As long as you are OK with guys wanting to have sex with her then. Kind of hard to let kids dress/accessorize in a sexy manner (to some) and then complain when people notice. Don't complain when some guy is tarnishing her virtue
Umm, that's the biggest load of nonsense I have ever heard. Guys will ALWAYS want to have sex with girls.. it has nothing to do with their dressings/rings. If the girl is educated properly, there won't be a problem... since when is dressing/decorating relevant to having sex? Are you one of those people who declare that women who dress sexy "deserve" to get raped because they were "asking for it"?

I dunno. I think piercings like that are a big turn-off (and I'm 14), but I guess it's her body...

No, don't pay attention to the uber conservatives of ATOT. You'll go a lot further being the "cool" dad than the mean dad.
More important than a belly button ring is BIRTH CONTROL. In a year or two, you and your wife should start asking her every month if she wants to start on the pill. That's responsible parenting.

Your daughter will go alot further being the 'mean' dad....assuming you are the MAN of the house and 'mean' = dicipline.
Remember, she WILL BE showing it off to Boys, who, just like you and I, will imagine thier man juice spread all over her belley.....NO RING

While that is discomforting to her dad, if you really think about it, why does it matter?
Despite the recommendations of cleaning, etc, it got infected, quite messy and painful, and then she had to take it out. She now has a scar, which while not the end of the world, is still something that should be noted.
