Wildcat Lake (WCL) Specs

Intel Wildcat Lake (WCL) is upcoming mobile SoC replacing Raptor Lake-U. WCL consists of 2 tiles: compute tile and PCD tile. It is true single die consists of CPU, GPU and NPU that is fabbed by 18-A process. Last time I checked, PCD tile is fabbed by TSMC N6 process. They are connected through UCIe, not D2D; a first from Intel. Expecting launching in Q1 2026.

As Hot Chips 34 starting this week, Intel will unveil technical information of upcoming Meteor Lake (MTL) and Arrow Lake (ARL), new generation platform after Raptor Lake. Both MTL and ARL represent new direction which Intel will move to multiple chiplets and combine as one SoC platform.

MTL also represents new compute tile that based on Intel 4 process which is based on EUV lithography, a first from Intel. Intel expects to ship MTL mobile SoC in 2023.

ARL will come after MTL so Intel should be shipping it in 2024, that is what Intel roadmap is telling us. ARL compute tile will be manufactured by Intel 20A process, a first from Intel to use GAA transistors called RibbonFET.

Think of why Dell is not having a direct Pantherlake successor to Lunarlake? It should be cheaper, so beneficial for Dell right?
Psst: Dell is having a direct Panther Lake successor to Lunar Lake according to that XPS leak.

The current Dell 14" laptops have Lunar Lake. See the 14" Plus, Premium, and 2-in-1s (note: the XPS name has been retired since that leak came out).

According to that leak, the 14" laptops will now have Panther Lake in 2026. At least to me, going from Lunar Lake to Panther Lake in the same product line is direct. You clearly define it differently than I do though. Maybe your post should be asking why the 13" model doesn't have a direct successor on the leak? My answer to that is that there is not a rumored 20 W TDP Panther Lake for that product line.

Newegg currently has a combo deal on 265K + MSI Z890-P Pro mobo, 360mm AIO liquid cooler (MSI), and 3 game bundle for $389.

Needless to say, I bought another Arrow Lake combo.
they are basically giving it away cause its a dead platform for both Intel sales wise and consumers upgradability wise

Not exactly. XPS as a name is being retired, but none of these are the new "XPSs". The closest one to that is Dell Pro 14 Premium, however that's actually replacement for the high end Latitude products (targeted at professionals). Dell Plus, as well as Plus 2-in-1, are Inspiron Plus replacements.

XPS 14 is still being sold under that name and didn't get a LNL "upgrade", tho it also didn't get the ARL refresh as far as I know. XPS 13 did however get a LNL refresh.

So when the actual XPS successors get announced (which will be Dell 13 Premium and Dell 14 Premium, no "Pro"), if the 13" model sticks with LNL as was reported on the leaked roadmap there won't be a XPS model that goes from LNL to PTL.

Damm lol this is good ona side note it's a MSI Mobo so quick sync won't work 🤣

Currently in a debug session with the MSI team, even got a Beta-BIOS. If you deactivate the IGPU via "PEG only" in the IGPU settings, you are able to use the 200S boost without constant blue screens. They might fix it one day, maybe when the refresh comes out, there might be motivation to do so. But as said quick sync only works if you clear CMOS and don't enable XMP.

Who would bother with a 285K when they have great deals on the 265K?
