Please try reading his quote and then coming back to this thread. Hint: he said client not server. This is at least the 2nd time you tried to pass that quote off on a server product.Except.... Remember "....AMD is in the rear view mirror and will stay there..." (or something like that)

What I was responding to was the comment that maybe Intel is admitting problems, and learning, and I am saying NO to that. I see no real learning or change, other than a small marketing change. Admitting that AMD did good for a couple of years. Alder lake is not king in everything, and they are in the dumper for servers, so AMD are certainly not in Intels rear view mirror for anything. Please try reading his quote and then coming back to this thread. This seems to be in reference to AMD's lead at any given time. Seems subtly different. Of course, hinges on them actually shipping SPR before Genoa shows up...Yeah, but is also in the record saying that AMD time is over with Sapphire Rapids..
“And yeah, AMD has done a solid job over the last couple of years. We won’t dismiss them of the good work that they’ve done, but that’s over with Alder Lake and Sapphire Rapids,” Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger
And how many AMD units are being sold ? What has that got to do with Sapphire raids being delayed anyway ? Yes, its in the article, but it means nothing about the cause.Alder lake is selling like hot cakes 15 million units shipped![]()

Whole platform upgrades tend to be for the well off with disposable income these days. Many users in average joe land don't upgrade unless something is broken. What with growing global inflationary pressures & supply chain problems still, its a wonder they sold that many already really.Fifteen million in ~7 months seems like a lot, but isn't really for Intel. Intel said Tigerlake sold 30 million in slightly less time (~6.5 months) and that was mobile only.
Tiger Lake was released for mobile in the middle of the pandemic when many were purchasing laptops for work from home.Fifteen million in ~7 months seems like a lot, but isn't really for Intel. Intel said Tigerlake sold 30 million in slightly less time (~6.5 months) and that was mobile only.
Granite Rapids has already suffered it's first delay

I know. That's the "old" Granite Rapids using Golden Cove on Intel 4.
Just a minor correction, old Granite Rapids was using Redwood Cove the same core in Meteorlake.
That may never happen coz it's never coming outAt this rate, Sapphire Rapids will end up competing with Zen 5.
I'm quite confident that if GNR launches in 2024, it'll be competitive with Turin which will also launch at a similar time. Even if we're talking H1 launch vs H2 launch, that'll still be fine enough by me. If it slips to 2025, then we'll probably stuck waiting for 2026 for the next best chance at competition in the DC. I really, really, REALLY hope it doesn't slip.I know. That's the "old" Granite Rapids using Golden Cove on Intel 4. The "new" Granite Rapids is on either Intel 3 or Intel 20a (I forget!) in 2024. If THAT suffers delays to 2025 and if Intel bags on Sapphire Rapids and Emerald Rapids, it would mean Intel wouldn't have an enterprise CPU until 2025 . . .

Will intel have 256 cores in server SKUs? That's what it takes to be competitive with Zen5. I somehow doubt it, but who knows.I'm quite confident that if GNR launches in 2024, it'll be competitive with Turin which will also launch at a similar time. oneAPI is supposed to allow easy heterogeneous application development so maybe they will compensate with extra Xe cores. It will cost them but maybe that's their plan to compete with AMD.Will intel have 256 cores in server SKUs? That's what it takes to be competitive with Zen5. I somehow doubt it, but who knows.
If you presume it takes 2 months for device availability you are talking 1 month for Alderlake. If you mean 6.5 months for Tigerlake as in mid-May, it would have been available to buy for 5 months. Also 2/3rd of Intel shipments are on laptop.
I'm pretty sure I've warned people on AT Forums several times already on rumours regarding Zen 5, I'm not going to be doing it again. Will intel have 256 cores in server SKUs? That's what it takes to be competitive with Zen5. I somehow doubt it, but who knows.
Yes that is essentially Falcon Shores in a nutshell. Issue is, is that AMD are attempting to do it first with MI300. Results are yet to be seen (thanks ROCm), but my point is that Intel aren't the onky ones trying that - heck, they're not even the first.oneAPI is supposed to allow easy heterogeneous application development so maybe they will compensate with extra Xe cores. They will put 128 Cores on 8 chiplets for Bergamo, they have the space to put at least 192 Cores on 12 chiplets on the same package so.....I'm pretty sure I've warned people on AT Forums several times already on rumours regarding Zen 5, I'm not going to be doing it again.
