18A is not having anywhere near 10nm or 7nm issues fwiw it's mostly parametric yield issues not the physical D0 which is pretty good.

Regarding the manufacturing side, keep in mind that DMR is reliant upon both 18A and foveros direct same as CWF. Now recall which of those two Intel blamed for the delay to CWF. It's quite plausible that they're still trying to solve reliability problems with foveros direct.

You might be on to something. It was my first instinct to blame 18a/18ap for the cancellation but . . .

Tons more cores than you'll ever need.
Meanwhile that pesky 32/48c F Venice dangles around like a cocaine-infused candy.
It's possible that Intel could consolidate all their Diamond Rapids SKUs around the 16ch platform, including lower core-count SKUs. But that would be weird and expensive for the buyer.

Weird, expensive, DRAM pop options that will hurt etc.
There's a good reason Intel had dual track platforms and AMD adopted them too.

Large(r) scale AMD server sales coming from replacement of intel sockets, then?

I don't understand this move at all. What possible reasons could intel have?

Idk but this just makes AMD's job easier.
They can give you visibility for mainstream socket roadmaps into Florence+1.
Intel can have seizures meanwhile.

I think (think) Intel is full of lobotomized cretins completely obvious to the market reality.
