CPA, glad you & your son are recovering well. Sounds like the hospital is very accommodating. Hope the rest of the recovery goes as planned...

Looks like I will be able to go home today. Unfortunately, Andrew is still in quite a bit of pain. The world hates him and he thinks everyone wants him to die :(.

The worse thing is they won't let him eat today. He has been demanding pizza from anyone who will listen (he's 10 btw). However, the kidney is working great. His creatinine (not creatine), potassium (too much can kill you) and BUN (a protein measure) levels are in the range of a normal person. This is great news. He's also urinating well. I haven't seen him yet, as I just got unhooked of everything, but should soon and am going to try to get him up and walking.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Pics will be coming soon.

Well, on a side note is you now (should) qualify for a Handicap placard. My wife had a friend in high school that for whatever reason ended up with only one kidney, and because of that she was eligible for a placard and got the good parking spots.

Good luck in recovery to you and your son. I don't know you and we've never even had the chance to chat through ATOT, but I woke up this morning thinking of you two and had to check the forums for any updates before I even got out of bed. Glad it went well. :)

Glad to see that everything is going well. Andrew, I'm sure you'll turn the corner very soon now, and you can have all the pizza you want. Dad said it's OK! :)

CPA, you may never have this opportunity again (& you may never want to...lol), but give that big wheel a spin...for old time's sake <evil grin>...

All humor aside, it sounds like things are going well & hopefully he'll have his pizza fix sooner rather than later.

Glad to hear he and you are both doing well. The fact he's begging for pizza is an excellent sign.

Even if I had one, I'd still leave those spaces for people that have walking difficulty.

Now if your son ever acts up in the future, you can always say, "I gave you a kidney, and I can take it back!" :D

Glad to hear you're both doing ok.

Aww poor kid must be starved. Why won't they let him eat?

They have to make sure everything is working properly and that his blood levels are where they need to be. He's getting a glucose drip, but to him it's not enough. Good news is that they are now allowing soup broth, jello and popsicles. However, he is adamant on getting pizza.

In any case, I was finally kicked out and am home. I looked, but could not find a big enough big wheel to ride around the floor, but other kids were riding them, like they were taunting me. Needless to say, I got a lot of strange looks by parents and kids "wtf is that big guy doing in a children's hospital?" kind of looks.

Still haven't taken a crap, but was finally able to fart, which I found out is the key to being released home and am finally able to get a good stream going. It feels like I've done a million situps. Will be getting the daughter to take some pics when she gets home from school.

Edit: just noticed someone sent me a 50% off of Assassin's Creed Revelations. Thanks to whoever did it. This will keep me busy next week. :)
