I would wish you luck, but it isn't about luck. You and your son will not only be fine, you will both be better than ever.

After surgery there may be some pain. Remember these words that got me through it: This too shall pass.

After going home, get your son one of these pill planners:

Taking those meds exactly as prescribed will be important so he doesn't reject the new kidney. With one of those pill planners, he will not forget. Ask me how I know. ;-)

Reading the first post, I was confused about what procedure OP was referring to. Thanks for clearing that up.

From the OP:
"As I stated in the "would you donate a kidney" thread, I am giving one of my kidneys to my 10-year old son next Tuesday. "

Seems pretty clear to me.

Thanks we have one. It breaks it down by day, then by time period (morning, lunch, afternoon, bedtime). Pretty damn convenient.

Looked like a sig because of the horizontal line.

There are plenty of great adult hospitals, esp for-profits. Most don't have good enough insurance for them and even those that do, don't want to pay the difference.

For some procedures like major orthopedics/hips and the like, you can get really good rooms/hospitals at a lower comparative cost as they are hoping to earn your business for these lucrative procedures.

Right about now ... CPA is in a bathtub full of ice, coming out of street-grade anesthesia (probably horse tranquilizer) ... struggling to read the lipstick written note on the bathroom mirror ---

oh wait, wrong story ... right now you are saving your son's life!

Was just thinking about CPA and his son. Both should be coming out of surgery and still be drugged out of it.

I do hope all went well (I'm sure it did!)

great nurses and Big Wheels to ride on the floor

:hmm: Seems like the nurses might want to get ridden on a bed or something but I guess its their hospital their rules.

Hope everything goes well!

I am saying a small prayer right now, hoping everything comes out all right for you and your son. You are a brave man and I hope I would have half the courage you do if ever anything like this would happen to my family.

Hope all went well. Do they put the whole kidney in or do they have to cut it down in size first?
