I was also having issues. I tried what you suggested in both the Patients's name and Patient's room and it seemed to go through.

LOL, don't do that! He had a small cheese slice yesterday, but could only eat a little of it. What he did eat was put in these words: "yummmmmm"

No, it only becomes a concern if your kidney is not functioning at 100%. You only need one kidney to live without much adjustment in your lifestyle. The problem he had was that both kidneys were not working and eventually got worse.
As of yesterday, he was allowed a regular diet.

Final Update:
Andrew was finally released from the hospital after 17 days. Kidney is doing great, all of his lines are out including his dialysis line that was in his neck and he's feeling good.
Funny thing is before his transplant, he couldn't eat more than a 1,000mg or Potassium, so cheese, bananas and milk were very limited. Now after the transplant the doc has told him to eat more cheese and milk because he's actually too low in potassium.
He has to load up on several medications for a while, but he's cool with them. It's just good to be home.
