You were brought up in a cult that gives out little magazines of course you think it is wacked.

But religion gets in the way of loving Jesus. Jesus=Cool. Religion in many forms has ruined the message for many.

Like peeing into the wind = Discussing religion on AT it always has been. Always brings out the worst trolls. Then they point back at you like a kindergardener. Think about though peeps that have been here 5-10 years the biggest douches were the anti religion pricks. i.e. Eledan. They just could not get over it. Religion was their kryptonite.

If he ever lived, he's Dead and has been a long time.

Religion is is believing you have imaginary friends in high places.

In the absence of any supporting evidence, gods, unicorns, Leprechauns, and the like rate equally as false constructs.

Religion is a mental activity, unlike my atheism, which is simply the lack of religious activity.

Pretty good... But there are lots of things to think of, once you discard religion.

The greatest advance for the will of the Devil was when Constantine declared Christianity to be the official religion of the Roman Empire. My view of hell is a much more logical and just consequence for denying God than the myth of Dante's Inferno. I believe evolution and Christianity to be equally true.

I'll elaborate on any of these statements if anyone wants to know.

God is.

The god the religious believe in does not exist so the god atheists don't believe in is not the God that exists.

Belief and doubt are words about ideas that do not exist beyond the head.

You do not find God in your head, he finds you in your heart.

God is not a thing of an idea but the knowledge state that comes from awakening.

I'll respect your beliefs if you'll respect mine. That means you can't try to convert me and you can't try to kill me in the name of your religion. I'll do the same.

1 Corinthians 13:11: When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.

^^^^ See, even the Bible argues against religion :)

Believe whatever you want, just leave me alone.

Don't try to legislate your religious beliefs upon others.

Don't expect any courtesy or respect simply because you believe in a religion -- questioning your views is not taboo.

The world would be a better, less violent place without religion.

It's amazing to me how many atheists, who deny the existance of any deity based on a lack of proof, nevertheless will accept the above statement as true despite not only a lack of proof, but in fact mountains of evidence against it. Mankind has a violent nature; always has, probably always will - I think history has made that clear. Removing religion will not change that.

Humanity no longer needs a boogeyman to be scared into acting morally. Humanity no longer needs a boogeyman to blame or thank for the random good or bad that comes into their lives. But at long as you're not hurting anyone in believing in the imaginary, go nuts.

No one ever said Atheists only believe in things for which there is proof.

but in fact mountains of evidence against it. Mankind has a violent nature; always has, probably always will - I think history has made that clear. Removing religion will not change that.

Removal of religion won't eliminate violence in the world, but it will lessen it. All the necessary proof can be found in one region: the Middle East.

I think Islam is probably the source of the majority of 'religious' violence. Sure you can find some people acting in the name of Christianity, but probably no more than you would find people acting violently in the name of PETA or Green Peace, or 'Progressivism'.

They'd find another reason - plenty of wars have been fought on a basis other than religion. The Middle East would be the same.
