After re-watching the clip it looks like the drums had a trigger that would start the vocal track when the drummer started playing. The guitars/bass hadn't even started when the wrong vocals began playing. The band switched to "Pieces of Me" right after.

her micro-managing dad will have the cd man castrated before the sun rises in NYC...

her forums went nuclear soon after it happened. I also notice somebody has generously posted the links to the ATOT-hosted clips there

Haha... check out this quote from the official Ashlee Simpson bulletin boards:

"I think that the band should leave. Staying with her could cause damage to their careers if it already hasn't..."

Sounds about right...

Yeah, actually that's right... the drummer triggers the background fill (I don't know if it's automatic or if he hits play somehow), but I doubt he's the one who forgot to change the tape after the first song.

Over on the SNL boards at NBC, a couple of people have posted this supposed quote of hers from an interview with Lucky Magazine:

LM: What are your takes on lip-synching?

AS: I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-synch. It's just not me.
