This is true--CA sucks for pizza.

I like both styles, but generally prefer a good NY pizza with proper crust, to deep dish.

But both are great, and both are absolutely pizza. Only commie fascists would disagree, as they also sit here inventing histories of the dish that they know absolutely nothing about, claim anchovies are somehow "wrong" or that things like clams and pineapple could ever be acceptable.

i had giordano's in chicago and thought it was awesome

edit: holy crap, now they have one less than 2 hours away from me??? i might have to make a special trip one of these weekends.
I have noticed that Giordanos appears to be expanding with restaurants outside of Chicago in the past few years.
 
I've had some, made some that really really didn't suck. But when I make a pizza these days (it's rare), I make it pretty thin crusted. I have all the pans... i.e. for deep and also ~4 sizes for round thin crusted.
 
And yet so are Chili Pepper and potatoes but that didn't stop people from eating them long before tomatoes.

Tomatoes have nearly identical features to poisonous nightshade plants. The main difference is the fruit is larger. They didn't have chemical testing back 100's of years ago, so associations were made by appearance. Peppers and potatoes are in the same family, but don't look alike.

Nightshade berries look like small tomatoes, and wild tomatoes were usually smaller than today's cherry tomatoes:

Yeah, Giordano's has a location in Orlando. It's not that great. Ate there twice and the pizza was undercooked both times.
Don't they have a frozen version that is sold in stores? Ir is that something with similar name? Best Frozen pizza I've had too.

I know Gino's East sells frozen. You can buy frozen from the restaurant and have it shipped anywhere. It's expensive though. Did it a couple of times and it heated up well (the secret is to let it thaw completely before cooking). https://ship.giordanos.com/
 
So you naysayers that keep asserting that deep dish pizza isn't pizza at all, well here is proof that it is and indeed from Italy:

You can get focaccia topped with lots of things in most Italian bakeries now. It's a good go to cold takeaway if you're doing the tourist eat as you walk thing. It's not what you are going to get if you order pizza somewhere though.

We got potatoes and chillies at the same time as tomatoes.
It is weird to think that those staples of European food were introduced to the continent relatively recently.
